With a hovercraft it would be easy, those things go over water. One of our islands is only like 2 miles from Russian land. IIRC the straight between them completely freezes over in the winter and you could drive over with a snow machine or some other vehicle like that.

I doubt you could buy an STI in Russia and drive it across though, if that's what you're thinking.

Thumbs up

It was several years ago that someone walked across the ice to the russian side and caused a big uproar between the 2 superpowers back in da day.

I ssem to remember someone trying to drive a Hummer across a few years back. It ended when it went through the ice, no one was hurt.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to try it in the first place.

I've got the goods:

http://www.dced.state.ak.us/trade/russia/facts.htm

Here's the important parts:

"At their closest Alaska and Russia are 2.5 miles apart "

" People have tried to cross the Bering Strait – and some have succeeded – by walking, swimming, wind-surfing, hot air balloon, skiing, dog sled, kayak and even, unbelievably, by driving (and failing)."

"But don’t try it. You can be taken into custody by border guards."

So the chances of you driving the STI across are slim. But hey, there's a first for everything. Just be sure to keep the pedal floored so the border guards don't catch you.
