Default squeling sound inside the engine or brakes

im not to sure but whenever i drive the car with my windows down open, i hear a squelling sound. First i thought it was my brakes but the next day i go inside my car and start it(engine is warmed up). Then i rev the engine(2000-4000 rpm), and i started to hear the same sound. My friend told me it maybe the timing belt. Im not even driving the car and it makes the sound. Does anyone else have this problem? and how can i fix it w/o taking it to the shop?

did you friend do any actual diagnostics or is he just guessing?

you're going to have to narrow it down a little

- does anything affect the tone / pitch / loudness? (such as turning on a/c, turning the steering wheel)

- is it constant with engine revs or does it get faster / higher / louder?

- can you narrow down where it's coming from in the engine bay?
