Default Ticking noise under acceleration

I haven't paid much attention of this, maybe it's an existing problem, but I've been noticing this issue. When I slowly accelerate the car when the engine is moderately cold (before the water temp reaches normal operating range), the car would have this soft ticking noise. It goes away when I let go off the accelerator pedal. It is more pronounced when it reaches 2000rpm. When the car is operating in the normal range, the noise disappears. This happens more often during colder temperatures. Is there something to worry about? Or is it just one of the many things that being a Subaru owner have?

you may need to have your valve lash adjusted. do you notice it when in gear or in neutral?

+1 on the valve lash. Not a bad job for a DIY'er.
