Default Tire Size for Lapping, 17"

Looking to do around 8-10 lapping sessions this summer at the track.

Currently the rims I'm using are 17x8. I'm running Swift Sportmach springs on stock struts (similar drop to Prodrive/Eibach Pro). Still debating which rims to use for my R-comps, I've got OZ Ultraleggera and Rota G-Force both 17x8.

I am looking for the tire size that will give me the best performance without any rubbing issues.

I'm also open to R-compounds with a good price which will be used solely for tracking.

You might try 245/40-17. If you're wheels are a friendly offset like +48, they should fit without rubbing. If you want to play it safe, get 235/40-17.

245/40's shouldnt rub

those springs are pretty soft and if you dont upgrade some of your suspension, the tires will be wasted

make sure your alignment is maxed for negative camber in front or you may eat the tires real quick

Yeah, I need to look into upgrading the rest of my suspension as well.

My original goal for this car was a nice looking daily driver, but as I'm starting to get more into tracking and performance I realize that my setup right now is highly inadequate.

R-Comps will pwn your car if you're on a majority stock suspension. Maybe consider running a decent street tire like the Star Specs as they can be had for a good price.
