Default Am I being had?

So I bought a CSS TMIC from a guy in the classifieds.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1660107

I NEED to have the intercooler by the 2nd or 3rd when my VF34 goes on, and I've made this clear to the seller. I paypalled the money on the 21st.
Quote:
TMIC will go out tomorrow. I got teh flu or something and this is the first I have been up all day. It seems like every holiday I get sick. Anyway I will ship it tomorrow and send you the tracking. thanks.
I know things happen so I let this one slide. (After looking around I was a little suspicious.)

Then I asked again (the next day)and got this.
Quote:
I have a friend coming over tomorrow to pick them up and take them to the post box ect and ship them for me in case I am still sick. thanks.
Hm. Okay... Didn't hear from him all day, then I get a reply this morning.
Quote:
Printed the label from paypal and now Im just waiting on ups to pick it up. I scheduled a pickup for today. Thanks
I know I'm being impatient but I'm on a bit of a time crunch so I'd like to get it in time for my swap.

I agree, but some people aren't in a rush to sent things out when they receive the payment. Me, I try and send it out that same day, if not the next day.

Hopefully he's an honest one.

going out on a limb but, I bet this was not in his possession or he was waiting for something else to come in to replace it with.

Most people once they get the money run on their own schedule as to when they will ship it...it usually happens when you need it the most!

I think if I don't get a tracking number today I'll be making a PayPal complaint. I wish I could afford to just order another one. The fiancee would kill me, though.

I sent a payment December 2nd and still haven't seen anything. Consider yourself lucky. What do I have, 30 days for a paypal resolution?

Best of luck to you in getting your tmic. I really wouldn't expect it to be here by now though. How did he ship it?

I bought a FMIC from him. It took forever to get, and it was missing a piece when I did finally get it. I personally don't think he is out to scam anyone. But he does not put shipping on his priority list. It is to bad, because the quality and price of his parts are awesome. I am sure you will get your parts, but don't expect them any time soon.

Edit. This should explain to anyone else looking at buying something from CSS.

Well the guy's username is hector. Don't know if he's affiliated with CSS directly or not. A little peeved about this though. I don't think my tuner will have to change my tune going from a stock IC to a bigger IC, right?

I don't know what the rule is, but I sold someone something. He sent payment and literally 4 minutes later made a complaint that he didn't get the item. Which locked my paypal account for like 8 months.

I'm not a fan of selling stuff via paypal, I like to meet face to face if at all possible.

I'm pretty sure hector is CSS. I remember a long time ago when he was trying to get a kit ready to mass produce i talked to him about a few things.

If I wasn't on a time crunch I wouldn't be concerned. If I don't hear anything in the next hour or so (he's on the east coast and things are probably closed/closing) I'm going to file a complaint with paypal. It sucks, but he said I'd have it in 3-5 business days after he shipped it Monday. It hasn't shipped and I don't think he's making the effort, I had a few other offers of people trying to sell me a TMIC, I should probably have gone with one of those.

Let me give you some advice, copied directly from Kevin's Off Road:

Quote:
A note about patience, from Kevin, a man of *ultimate* patience...not.

Folks, PLEASE do not make your life more difficult by scheduling your installation date until ALL of the parts and pieces show up on your doorstep. You laugh, but common sense is NOT common practice! I ask you this as a friend, as invariably, either the shipper, the vendor, or some other person involved will make an error and throw your plan into a tailspin. I get at least one e-mail a month from someone who got impatient and started doing an install, only to find out that they were missing something, or that a vendor was backordered, or the shipper lost the box, or something that throws off their schedule and their daily driver is now torn apart in the driveway, awaiting a part that's not to arrive for another few days. Don't be that guy...you don't have ANY need for that sort of stress, and there is little we can do on our end to assist you if you're in this predicament...except maybe pass along a recommendation for a good rental car company. PLEASE don't put yourself into this situation! Your loved-ones will thank me, lol.
This is true for Jeeps, Subarus, model rockets, and lobotomies. It's common sense, and far too many people schedule things before they actually get their parts to install. You're wasting the installer's time, the tuner's time, and costing them money by blocking out time they could have otherwise been making money.

Seeing as how you're local though, I know a guy here in town who might be willing to rent or lend you his TMIC for your tune. I think it's a Spearco but I could be wrong.

I know, normally I'm better about the whole timing thing but the way this deal came to be was a little weird in itself. Haha. It'll work out I'm sure, but if you have a friend that would be willing to do that, I could leave a (small) deposit or my spare key or something until I can get this sorted out. I'd really appreciate it.

Threaten to file a complaint and smear him on here. I had to do that once to someone when I bought a hood scoop. Kept claiming that the packaging was wrong... I told him I was going to have to take action, and sure enough the package went out that day, tracking number and all. People dont like having bad trading records on nasioc... especially if they ever plan to get rid of something again on here.

I really don't understand why people do that. If you're selling it, get it out as soon as you're paid. I've had sellers go out of town for 3-4 days and they come back... "oh sorry, but I was out of town and didn't have time." Screw you buddy!

Open up a paypal complaint. I had to do that for the CF hood I just got and the guy complied within a day. Sucks to hear that someone is being a sketchy seller ::thumbs down::

Yeah, complaint filed. I told him via several different lines of communication (Tried to Pm, inbox was full, so emailed through NASIOC and through Paypal) why I was opening and Over nighting or giving my money back in full will make the complaint go away. After the 28th I can escalate it to get Paypal involved and they should rule in my favor via no shipping proof.

I've had very good luck buying/selling on NASIOC, this is the first issue I've had and it's one of the more expensive things I've bought :P

I just realized something here. You are the guy that was talking about proposing to your girlfriend and how money was kind of tight, you had 30k debt combined, etc. etc. Why on god's green earth are you willing to drop the dough to go w/a vf34 setup, but your buddy had to pay the downpayment on your engagement ring? I hate to sound critical here, but it just does not make one bit of sense to me. Sorry to say, but financially you have some growing up to do.

Not to sound like a prick but this is why Nasioc has iTrader feedback! 63% definitely would not warrant any of my business.

GL - hope everything pans out for you

We've been saving money. Buddy is paid back. Most of the VF34 stuff is being done through trades, just having to buy a couple of things. Quarterly bonuses are a good thing. Things are looking up since we combined our finances and are spending less money. Most of our bills (except for our "good" debt) are paid off, and I'm trading for the setup, not buying it outright.

Things aren't always what they seem. I'm trading things I rarely use for something I'll use and enjoy every day.

And he didn't HAVE to. He offered to. I was willing to pay the interest on it, but he went above and beyond his call of duty as a friend. That was his choice. And I paid him back as soon as I could.

That was the reaction of a lot of people. I knew I SHOULD have waited, but with all the excitement and everything, I really didn't want to. The friend is paid back, and the ring only has a little bit more. With the holidays I figured I could leave a couple hundred until my next paycheck

23 days is more than enough time. I'd file a complaint with PayPal.
