Default 06 sti drivers side front door wont open from inside or out!(not frozen)

hey everyone.....i decided to make a quick run to good old walgreens for a couple christmas cards and something weird happened....

i go out to warm the car up before i leave my home unlock the door and i see its kinda froze around the window so i tap with my hand around the glass and the door opens fine.....

then when i go back outside to leave a few min later the door opened without a hitch....

i get to walgreens get out of the car no problems with the handle on the inside.....

so im in the store like 10-15min come back out unlock the door pull the handle and nothing, go to the passenger door and it opened fine i try to pull the inside handle and once again nothing.....

im guesing something somehow broke..... now i need ideas on what happened, and how to get the door panel off when the door wont open,lol.....thanks to anyone that can help

I assume you got it home....

Try locking and unlocking it electronically again (i.e. the switch or remote, not the tab on the door). It may be cold enough that it just kinda stuck in the middle.

If that doesn't help, I have to assume that gnomes have chewed through the rod connecting the handle to the latch.

Yeah start with flipping the actual lock on the inside of the door. Make sure you can feel resistance there, you can compare to the passenger door. To me it sounds like the lock mechanism isnt engaging the handles.

You know I've taken the door panels off but never with the door closed so I dont know exactly how that would go. I'd probably start with trying to remove the drivers seat (assuming you cant work with it with the seat there), or at least unbolt it and slide it back. Then once you get the panel off you should beable to look back in there and see a problem...
