Default Do we have the most exciting cars?

I'm basing this solely on how they are "advertised" and by that, I'm not referring to Subaru's advertising, but by media exposure in all the Ken Block vids and the rally competition at the X-Games and stuff like that.

The only other company remotely comparable on this basis, in my opinion, is Ferrari with their coverage in a Shell commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hiAhLStjAI

So in this narrow respect, would the answer be "yes"?

I think it is only that "exciting" for you because you pay more attention to the commercial advertising of Subaru's than you would any other car company. Its not a bad thing; just a natural thing that people do when they already own a certain brand/type of anything really.

I x games advertising is entirely Subaru exposure though.

Same thing as when you buy a certain car you begin to notice more like it driving around town

It's all in your head man haha

SoA did a great job reinforcing it's performance image to it's key demographic for WRXs and STIs. Being a huge sponsor for the X-games probably helped alot there. Being featured on the cover of lots of rally car games and supporting several race teams in the US helps alot too. I would agree that in that narrow view, we have the most exciting cars.

I emailed 1 co-worker that Ken Block vid when it first came out. In the span of a week I had more than a few domestic muscle car guys asking me about my car. They were blown away. That kind of advertising is priceless.

My STI created a stir around town amongst the younger crowd it seems. To me, my FRC was fun...it was almost like a really awesome dancer above 80mph...lots of finesse. My STI is just as fun below 80 (where you are mostly) but it's more like some big muscled up dude from the gym...ya know...kinda meat-fisted.
Both cars are fun. Straight line acceleration fun still goes to my Grand National.

I don't know, Rotary cars are pretty dang exciting...

Not knowing if it is going to flood and leave you stranded, not knowing if that tank of gas will get you there, not knowing when your next impromptu rebuild will be required, all VERY exciting!

just an fyi...I'm 33...I've had a few fun cars and a few luxury cars. This STI ranks really high. I like it a lot. I want another vette but I have two kids. This was the best 4 door hot rod I got my hands on. I'm the second owner of my 87 Grand National...you can search it on Cardomain under "gofastsoundgood". I go fast with it and do USACi Soundoff's (SQ). It's the 2008 USACi World Champ (Consumer Advanced). My second title...judged a few years at Finals too. My BS degree is in Mass Comm (Telecomm and Audio Prod) with a minor in music.

We sure do.
Going to the New England Forest Rally was truly a high-light of this year and cemented my love of Subaru.
Walking around the Sunday River parking lot talking with Ken Block, Travis Pastrana (on his dirt bike), Dave Anton and all the rally drivers was great. One afternoon I was in two huge fields filled with Subarus of all models. (Anyone else go to the Mexico park SS1?)
I had Subaru moment driving. Tanner Foust was rolling down the hill, I stopped my car at the crossing, we recognized either other in Subarus, smiled and waved.
I never was happier to be sitting in an Impreza WRX.
Call it fan boy if you want but its much easier to pay my car loan each month knowing I like what I am paying for. Who wants to pay for a car which they hate driving?

You guys actually have to give this to PORSCHE...

Cmon... did you see the commercial with the guy in the GTS truck revving his motor and thinking about the race cars because they sounded the same...

most exiting = PORSCHE all day!

This reminds me of a kids slot car kit I saw advertised on TV recently in which the 2 racers included with the set were a Subaru and a Ferrari. The commercial featured the little blue car just as much as the red, and at the end the Subaru Pleiades oval was displayed just as prominently as the Scuderia's prancing horse shield. That says a lot.

X-games is just the most televised "rally" event in the USA. Elsewhere around the world Subaru actually has/had an even better image due to multiple WRC wins in the 90s which cemented it's rally image everywhere but the USA.

so, the xgames isnt even part of the World Rally Championships?...because i know subaru always wins the xgames rally event, but in the WRX, subarus only had 3 wins

Considering how badly Subaru has done since Petter's driver's title in 03, that win is feeling like the distant past. Then add in the fact that Subaru recently announced they are pulling their WRC team, things look even worse. Citroen and Ford have been tearing up WRC since then. You could almost ask, "since when did Subaru win WRC?"

I'd have to cast my vote for Porsche considering the fantastic history and the pure quantity of racing that they do. Hell, they had a 959 run the Dakar Rally in the mid-90s. How can driving a dynamically flawed car (rear engine) not be exciting?
