Default 2008 STi fender mods with 18x9.5 +38?

Hey guys, I can find all sorts of information about previous years offsets, but not too much about the 08. I am looking at a set of 18x9.5 +38 wheels for my 08STi. Apparently I will also need a 5mm spacer for the front wheels to clear the calipers. I do plan on getting coilovers before installing the wheels, but my question is, will I need to modify the front and rear fenders? or just the rears? I have never done a setup this aggressive and could use some advice. Thanks.

I would assume spoke design would have the most impact on if the wheels will clear the brakes. What wheels are you looking at?

What size tires were you going to run?

In reading a bunch of threads on iwsti (they have a huge 2008 wheel/tire thread with tons of info) it sounds like most 265/35-18 tires should fit on an 18x9.5 +45 wheel with no modifcations. 275/35-18 probably requires a slight roll in the rear. Anything lower offset and you will be doing more fender modifications.

I would guess with +38 offset you will have to roll the rear fender pretty well to get it to fit. I would also guess that you wouldn't need to pull the fender or anything drastic. You may need to run a bit more negative camber.

I just ordered some new wheels/tires and will be rolling my rear fenders to clear them in a few weeks so I should have first hand knowledge in January sometime.

I am looking at rota grids. As far as tires, I think I will run my stock 245/40r18s at first. I guess I will assess the amount of clearance I have at that point to decide how wide my next tires will be.
