Default I'm pretty sure that I'm stupid. Are you?

So every once in awhile, I wake up and I feel like I'm a complete idiot. I try to concentrate on information that I know, only to realize.... wow, I really don't know much. I know nothing in regards to American history, the U.S Presidents, basic math that I've forgotten over time, car mechanics, financial information (stocks, bonds, corporate finance)... and many other random bits of information.

Am I crazy? I have a degree, I have a good job, I will eventually be getting my MBA and I do know random facts. But is this normal? I literally wake up and ask myself how I can be so stupid. Maybe I have some sort of memory problem where I just don't feel like I'm retaining the amount of information that I should over the years of school and work that I've currently experienced.

Figured this would be a great thread for the OT. Flame-suit ON!

Put down the bong, and pick up Brain Age for Nintendo.
Other than that, lack of sleep makes me dumber than a sack of nails. Bad nutrition, stress, etc could all be a factor.

Imho, it's pretty much normal to be feeling the way you do.

Better to think you're stupid and be right than to think you're smart and be wrong.

Other than a game show, will any of that info make you money? Will it help you be financially secure the rest of your life? Ie: does your "life" depend on knowing that info?

The brain stores what it needs to for you to survive. Most of us, to survive, means eeking out a living, and that requires money (unless you're a farmer/hunter type... then your brain would retain the things needed to hunt/survive off the land).

Knowing 'trivia' is only good for conversation (small talk), or game shows. Yousurely know stuff I've either forgotten or just didn't know about, and there's stuff you've forgotten, or you don't know about. That's what makes us all... unique.

i find a good way to learn what you know is too teach it. try your job for example, teach it to someone. you'll be surprised at what you know. same with life lessons and how to do things. factual knowledge comes after those things i think and is only so useful. if it helps carry around an encyclopedia if you need to spit out info.

You should read The Black Swan. NY Times best seller about being "stupid".
