Default The Taurus SHO Might be Back. Maybe. Kinda

Quote:
Jalopnik has some exclusive first shots of a SHO-badged dashboard being mocked up at an unknown location. They could be the first piece of evidence of the reawakening of the Ford Taurus SHO, or they could very well be a concept car that's being built for, ahem, show. (We just clever our little selves to the point ofdizziness sometimes!)

Los Jalops don't have any details besides a decent number of shots of a dashboard with an SHO trim level badge and silvery, faux-carbon trim. If it's real, it's safe to assume the new "Super High Output" Taurus will have the same flavor of Ford's wicked EcoBoost technology as that found in its platform-mate, the Lincoln MKS AWD, which would mean the same rumored 350 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque

These exclusive first shots of a SHO-badged dashboard in testing outside an unknown location are the first piece of evidence portending the reawakening of the Ford Taurus SHO with the 2010 Ford Taurus. We don't have any details besides these shots of a dashboard emblazoned with a SHO trim level moniker. It's safe to guess the new "Super High Output" Taurus will have the same flavor of Ford's wicked Ecoboost technology as that found in its platform-mate, the Lincoln MKS AWD, which would mean the same rumored 350 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque.

This is not a Mustang.

It obviously has much more power than a Mustang.

The original SHO was awesome. The 96+, not so much. This looks like a return to form, not bad.

Hence the use of term "promising" which does not imply a definite result. Are you people on crack?

Agreed. The original SHO came out when I was in high school and I first saw it at the Philly Car Show. They had it dressed up in a "SHOgun" bodykit.
For 1987 it was awesome. Kinda like the Bonneville SSi of a few years later.

Well, horsepower and torque ratings are specifications. Even if they are not confirmed specs. And they look promising. Is there anything else? Can we agree that a AWD Taurus with a ~350hp turbo V6 might at least be somewhat interesting, instead of discussing English?

Interesting? Somewhat.

With AWD I think the performance would be ho-hum.

Make it RWD with that engine and you have my interest.

Or just say **** it and bring over the Aussie Falcon to do battle with the G8

Either way would work for me. I'd hardly call it ho-hum though, when was the last time Ford had a sedan with performance akin to the S4?

I miss my old 91 SHO. Great car. You just can't beat a car that was featured in Robocop.

Robocop came out in the summer of '87, 2 years before the SHO. The severe duty (police) grill does wonders for the look though.

My buddy had a '93, great engine but I prefered my Tbird Supercoupe (back then). 315 FT/lb trumped the 15HP advantage the SHO had!

same here had a 93 auto and a 92 manual. Loved the car but it was getting to expensive to maintain the way I wanted too. Any engine related part was a biatch.

Welcome to NASIOC , it was a ......nevermind, if I have to explain I may as well chuckle for you too

and SHO is just a name, to think Ford would only use it on the Taurus. Which isn't even a Taurus anymore or was the original 500 actually a Taurus with a lame new name or was it a completely new car or just an updated Taurus with a new name . Anyway Ford would never blur the line spreading the SHO name to other vehicles

joke, ford, special edition mustangs, Taurus not confirmed, hahahaha
