The old new Equinox looks a lot better. Not that the current one looked bad, really.
The big news are also the all new engines. Especially the new 2.4 Liter that is supposed to get 30mpg on the highway.
Which beats pretty much everything else in that cathegory.
We'll see....
I think it looks damn nice for a smaller crossover vehicle.... not my type of vehicle, but it actually looks more than competitive with the Rav-4s and CRVs of the world.

The mileage with the 2.4L is certainly an eye-opener. Granted, it's vapor-ware at the moment, so they can give it any mileage they want... I'm guessing that's also in FWD trim.

Rumor is that this will also be getting a 2-mode hybrid version...

Yep, that was FWD.

AWD is 20/27 with the 2.4L, which is still quite reasonable.

30MPG in a small SUV would be a big win for GM. Hell any car company that could pull that off gets a tip of the hat.

Legacy Outback has been getting that since like 06-07 nothing new there. Once VW decides to ramp up the Tiguan 2L diesel any AWD small SUV that gets less than 30mpg is going to look like well just that a SUV that gets poor milege.

If MB has a 3L V6 diesel hauling around a 5000lb 7 passenger car posting consistant mid 20's milege a small SUV should equal or do better simply from a weight and size perspective.

It's the right step forward but its not going to be a eye opener impressive move given GM is viewed as behind the times already and there are much larger more powerfull and more fuel efficient SUV AWD vehicles already being sold.

I don't think many people are going to be comparing gasoline vs diesel mileage numbers "straight up" without factoring in fuel prices. Of course there will be some diesels with better mileage.

the current premium for diesel is unusual. typically, it's the price of premium gas. I'm not saying it won't stay that way, I'm just sayin.

I wonder if the Rav4 will get the upcoming 2.7L that sees 29mpg highway in the FWD Venza. There is supposedly a 2.5L coming out for the Camry (replaces the old 2.4L). I could even see that in the Rav4.

Good to see direct injection making its way into economy engines versus just the performance engines. Now if the rest of the automakers would follow.

2.5 is already in the RAV for 09, more power and better economy than the 2.4 but not as good as it could be. Toyota has been slow to implement "cutting edge" technology and is living on its reputation. If GM or Ford gets a desireble exterior w/ a competative interior Toyota may be in a bit of trouble.

I actually saw one of those recently; small it is not. And note; I've only seen one that I can remember.
