Default I know im going to get flamed for this but...

disclamer: do not do this as it could be damaging to your motor

Mods:
Stage 2 OTS Cobb ACN 91oct
Catless TBE, catless UP
f*ked up headlight intake

I wanted to get a little quicker run this time so a honda friend gave me the idea and helped do this...

for the run down the track the filter was taken out. and yes that is a blue rubber band holding the filter on , it was worth .5 sec and 3mph at LVMS not going to do it again not enough gain for how bad/ retarded it looks

as long as somebody got a laugh out of it it was def worth it, it was a fun night tho. if i have embarassed those who own subarus i apologize, but it was a trial run to see if it would be worth gutting a stock headlight and makeing one that would bolt in... intake temps of 110+ at night suck so i wantd to try and cool it off a little. it workd intake temps dropped 25-30 degrees

oh also the grill is no longer around... someone backed into it at night in the hospital parking lot then drove off, bent the hood, radiator support and obviously the grill is done...

hey man dnt ever be embaressed or second guess an idea or apoligise to anyone idk if u really picked up .5sec and 3mph just by doin tht assuming ur 60ft was the same hence same launch then thts a pretty good gain expecially if ur on just a stock tune nd no crazy mods.... it might be worth gutting a garbage headlight nd getting an AP with sumthing like a track tune a lil race gas nd ur headlight intake might be on to sumthing...

If it was only for the track, then who cares what it looks like. All the faces are just trying to get a response in. If it shaved a 1/2 sec off your time, then more power.

right now im cobb stage 2 running the ots map, also my launch was within .050 sec of my average and it was a good run, i kinda granny shift it and dont launch to hard cuz i blew 3rd once already and now i have the LGT transmission from andrewtech. my 60' was 2.001 and my time and mph on that run where 14.349 at 93.56mph, my best run down the track with dam near identical 60' of 2.005 is 14.775 at 90.27mph.

if you're gonna run it without the filter then why go through the trouble to do that? just take the filter out.....

any gains were most likely due to the weather and/or you're running lean since the air is flowing passed the MAF differently.

snowman can you elaborate on that

well it was a combo of trying to drop the intake temps and getting more air in, the filter removal was to give it more of a ram air effect i guess

i could alway try something like this and run the a/c on super cold while i run down the trackhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbZg8QBJaMM

Picking up .4* and 3mph is no joke, but could be driving consistency related... Wonder what your AFR's looked like running an open intake and an OTS map.

i dont think it is a consistency thing tho. ive ran 9 times before that and every time was within a tenth or two of my best time. same thing with my 60' times

running without a filter generally throws off the MAF sensor and leans out the a/f. That's most likely how you picked up the gains.

magnumpsi... that is a hilarious clip

Vaus, my thinking was that since the turbo is sucking in air quicker than i was driving forward then it wouldnt have effected the AFR's all that much, now it did stumble alot when i was at light throttle, but anything over 10-20% throttle it was fine, but i could def see it leaning out the AFR's, i was watching my knocklight the pretty close as well its set to 3 out of 10 for sensitivity, 10 being least sensitive

Listening to your honda friend makes baby jesus cry.

Seriously the stock scoop thingy actually picks up cold air from the front of the hood and works fairly well. In my datalogs the IAT drops a lot at faster speeds. If you must run a set up like this, I've seen a few that kept the stock box in the stock location and picked up air from the foglight hole.

69subaru360, that is the other thing i was thinking about bc when i bought the car it never had the air scoop thing, i dont really use the foglights that often anyway so id probly turn them into brake coolers b4 a ram air setup tho

soon2bblackongold, i was thinking that for free i dropped almost half a sec and gain a few mph in the 1/4 so i wanted to share this with others
