Default Simple question, Simple answer

My brother is looking for a transmission for his 99 impreza sport wagon. I am doing research for him, what 5 speed transmissions will bolt up to the 2.2l?

Any 5 speed out of any EJ engine subaru will bolt up, whether or not the differential ratio is the same is another thing. Ask him to look under his hood, and get the tranny code, then search for it..

You need to make sure you get the right style clutch and final drive.

Look in the FAQ there is a link to the tranny chart which should help you out.

forgive me for being such a noob, but when I recieve the transmission code, and look it up on the chart, what will I be looking for/at?

He bought the car for 700 dollars and all he is doing is making it a simple dd, motor runs great but the transmission isnt doing so well.
