As far as race fuel... these two are the best Subaru examples from PR.

http://www.grs-motorsports.com/notic...ro/vid/391.wmv

That is the Georgie Performance/Big Valley Sti (04 STi GT42R) with over 800WHP All boost and still relatively heavy (compared to most of the Evo's that run around that time) This was on drag radials.

http://www.grs-motorsports.com/notic...o/vids/416.wmv

And that is La Rata WRX (EJ257 GT40R) with 700+ WHP all boost.

The rest of the cars are on the upper 600's to lower 500's. Anyway in PR there are around 20 subies that run 10's ET's or better.

While it is possible to make over 500 hp on a subaru block it is way easier to do on any number of other platforms (evo, corvette etc). The thing with making more that 500 hp on a subaru is that you are way into the upper limits of what that engine is capable of and reliability drops off the chart in most cases. You have to upgrade everything because it was designed for 300 or so. This means you need to think about everything from clutch and motor mounts to internal engine components. Yes, I know someone will quote me the daily driver that has had no problems for years at 500+hp but seriously, for the money, if you are just after a number on a dyno there are cheaper ways to get bigger numbers.

Subaru is quick and fun to drive and I loved mine so don't think this is bashing them. But I spent less on my skyline and got almost twice the power than either of my subarus had without even coming close to pushing the engine to its limits (it will live a long comfortable life between 600-650hp). It is fun and everything but I still liked both STi's that I used to have for the handling and response and overall feel. They were fun cars.

Bottom line is with enough $$$$ you can find a way to get power out of anything but is that what you are looking for out of your car? A 350 hp STi is a ton of fun to drive on the streets and will last a long time because it is well within the capabilities of the other parts of the car (transmission, drive shaft) and most drivers too

Exactly..hell....a 13-12 second car is SICK fast for "daily driving"

500-600 whp is 130-135 mph traps in a full weight subaru, thats FAAST.

i think alot of the people on here get caught up in seeing dyno numbers and not actually feeling how powerful 500 whp really is.

i took a spin in a friends 10 second notch back mustang and it had huge drag radials..in the dead of sumer with big gummy tires this thing was losing traction and the blower wasnt even in boost. it was violent.

A 500whp+ awd car must be neck snapping!

forget WHP numbers, any car that traps 120+ mph for a street car is FAST, not much is gonna be able to run it from a dig or a roll, 120+ is pretty untouchable when it comes to street cars

I love it when people get into the matches of my car........your car.......

If you like Subaru you are going to build a Subaru........If you like Mustangs ......then build them.......

But the truth is your can build a 500whp mustang for about 1/4 of what you would with a STI.

Im done.

And FYI its been scientifically proven that rich peoples chit stinks less that poor peoples.

Cheap, processed food has more preservatives and stinks more when broken down than high priced natural foods

460whp in my GC with straight 93 and a STOCK MOTOR.. Its my car, so I tune it a it harder then customers.. but so far so good.. Anyone that knows me, knows that I kick the **** out of all my cars.. The GC gets it everyday.
When I throw the new motor in it next month, it better make 550+ on the same dyno .. or I will torch it..
hta86/ reworked cosworth big ports/BIG kelfords and a race block..

Also to the people saying " you can just buy this car or that car" I have had alot of other modded cars, vipers, supras, gtrs, evos ETC.. 400,500,600, 900whp etc I love my dumb Subaru's.. My GC is my favorite street car yet

yes "slower" than a 120+ car and how does

"My best run last year was a 12.44 @ 113.88 mph. This was with a 1.998, 60' ft time" = 117 mph?

Keep throwing money at it until it gets the magic number you are looking for and find a dyno that reads high. Every dyno is different and that is why you can't really put too much stock in numbers on paper, they are like statistics in a way. You can manipulate them to get the answer you want if you work them right.

I still say a simple stage 2 STi is more fun and more cost effective way to go for 95% of the daily drivers here. 330 or so hp and very responsive, great handling and fun. Most drag cars and big hp dyno queens are not that fun or easy to drive and break expensive things too often to make it fun anymore. Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it.

no need for me to really respond to that since you obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

find me 5 timeslips for any year stock sti running 13.0......

then go look at the corvette forums....

and i already stated that i was referring to the c6's.....find one with over 100,000 miles and it'll be around 20k
