Default DFW - Cobb AP, 08 STI

I bought a cobb AP for my STI a couple months ago, blew my engine and am getting rid of the car so...

$650 in the box. UpLoaded and unloaded once. (Save 50 bucks and the sales tax...)

I also have factory roof racks for an 08 STI - $175

I'll post some Brake pads later in the week as well.

Motor blown at the track (Road course) - 4th piston ringland dealio - SOA was kinda crappy about the whole deal so... Getting a 135... and eating my lunch to get rid of the STI. I was a little low on fuel when i pulled off the track (1/4 tank) may have been that... but this is so typical it is hard to tell. basically the engine does not do enough to protect itself in reasobalbly forseeable situations. But SOA won't admit this.

Bought the AP at the cobb shop in plano for 695 plus tax ~ $750... make an offer? It is not polite to publically post that the price is too high.

I wasn't intentionally trying to derail, I apologize - Was just trying to point out that the reason it wasn't going anywhere is because there are holiday specials from Cobb through any vendor for 10% off normal prices. However from what I understand this is over as of Tomorrow so the price will be back up to 695.

Booster: Did you have an early build STI and did it ever get the reflash that came out of the stop sell? - I'm curious how rampant the issue is on the 08s... did SOA repair the engine or what's the outcome?

They did the reflash before i picked it up/bought in Aug. there are a ton of failures IMO posted here and on IWSTI. I posted there a few times about it.

SOA fixed it as a "good will repair" and said it was due to abuse/modification. all i had was an AP and it had about 5 track days... but 3000 miles is a little short IMO grenade itself. The goodwill crap was basically a "go F yourself nextime" by SOA. Plus they tried to come back after they said they were going to fix it and charge me 200 bucks.

Their lack of taking responsibiltiy for the deal, and jerking me around about the 200, and I point blank asked them if i took the AP off and it happened again in another 3000 miles if they would fix it under warranty, he said they would have to look at the sitation at that time, so basically i took that as a No...

Net outcome, i'm eating about $9,000 on a car i bought 4 months ago to trade it in on a 135. I bought this car for the track, told the dealer that at the time. The dealer is not stepping up but to write a draft to the other dealer for the trade and give me the high side of the trade in value.

The 08 is Fast as all Git out... even in basically stock condition... but I cannot trust it on the track and cannot afford to replace the engine every 3k.

Please don't get me wrong, but to be fair you were in fact running the car modified were you not? I'm not saying ti shoudl have crapped out after 3000 miles, but still Subaru's point is valid - if the car had been 100% stock they would have no ground to stand on, but as it sits you *COULD* have been running some crazy lean map?

I see where you are coming from and yes the blow out after 3000 miles is suspect, but you were tracking the car and it was modified to run at higher than stock boost levels something you can't really expect the dealer or subaru to be accountable for. You will find the same from BMW, if they find you are running a vishnu aftermarket setup and you blow your engine - believe me no matter how nice your BMW guy is you're gonna get looked at sideways when it happens more than once...
