Default Broke a part off the sprocket, is it shot? PLEASE HELP!

Well I tried pulling the crankshaft sprocket off using one of those knobs (by knobs I mean like the part where there is a line that should be pointing to the top for TDC) and one of them broke off. What I am wondering is, is this part needed? My guess is it's used for the the timing sensor located right above where currently my timing mark for TDC is under is this right? I'd hate to buy another part if not needed but I don't want to put the car back together to find out it wouldn't run. Please help, thanks.

i'm assuming you mean the timing belt sprocket that runs on the crank? it should have....3 tabs or so coming out. Those are for the crankshaft position sensor. If you broke one off, then yes, you'll need a new one. Pics would be nice so we can confirm just what the hell you're talking about.

I was pretty sure they were for that sensor. Sorry about the delay in the picture been at work and no camera. The yellow arrow points at the area where the one tab broke off and the red is pointing at what broke off. I know the pictures out of focus but it's a tight squeeze with the radiator and dark garage. Oh plus there are more than three of these, let me know thanks guys.

Is 50 bux a good deal on a used one? Also the yard want 60 for the crankshaft pulley is that good? Best I can find on the pulley as Advance wanted 281 and my Subaru dealership wanted 150 however those are new, but it surprised me that the Subaru dealership was cheaper!

Thanks again!

I looked up those parts in the catalog at the nearest local "wholesale to the public" dealer, fredbeansparts.com. The sprocket is 23.39 and the pulley is 107.96. You also need a key and, preferably, a new bolt.

Those are great deals! Thanks, I bought a new key because the old one bent and is the reason I'm messing with the sprocket. Working on trying to get the sprocket off I've come to realize the sprocket was shot anyway as when the key bent the sprocket took damage and probably the reason I can't get it off, did manage to get the key out though and the sprocket to be flush with the crankshaft. Plan on cutting the sprocket where the key was to see if that will make it come off the crank. Thanks for the heads up on the fredbeansparts though!
