All Im finding are generic piston rings that say they are good for every 2.2 subaru made....
Anyone know where to find a good set of stock size piston rings? Should I go oem? Anyone have the ring gap specs from subaru for stock size pistons?

I have successfully used the NPR (nippon piston ring) rings for the NA pistons many times in turbo pistons.

what are you using for gaps? Im assuming they dont come pregapped?
And, why use the npr over oem? You think there are any notable differences between the two? |

I'd like to bring this thread back to ask one question, normally the NPR rings I've used in the past were all gray (steel), the most recent pack that I received had a gold/copper color for the top ring.....I'm wondering if this is going to be a problem with durability or heat regarding FI?

Probably just some sort of color they add to make it look good. I doubt they would change the material unless they had several expensive complaints. Maybe its a break-in coating or something, cant tell you.
