Default Looking to get a fishing rod this spring, what to get hmmmm!

I used to fish about 10 years ago and thought I would pick it back up this spring since I moved .5 miles from the river. So what is everyone using these days. I will mostly be fishing in the river and creeks.

I'm sure they're not oontzy enough for the OT, who all fish with St. Croix and G Loomis rods, but I picked up a pair of rod and reel combos for the wife and I from Cabelas. Shimano Sahara reel on a Cabela's IM7 graphite rod for $60.

Now, if your talking creeks and rivers, are you gonna try fly fishing? I'd love to give it a go, but I don't know if I have the patience. Plus, I don't quite fit in with the fly crowd, with their barbless hooks and $200 silk nets.

Id love to start fly fishing but I would not know where to start. That is the ultimate goal in the end though.

Cabelas, Bass Pro, and Gander Mountain all have some good combos. Anything in the $60 - $100 range is good enough for me, and I do a lot of fishing. If you get oontzy rods you are bound to break eyes off the same as a little cheaper rod.

Right now my nicest setup is a bass proshop rod with a decent Diawa real on it. Total price was about $90.

If you know how to fillet a pike it doesn't have any bones. Where I fish I'm limited to bluegill, pike, walleye, and perch, and some other small panfish.

Walleye fishing was slow, and early season pike is pretty tasty.
