I've searched but couldn't find anything specific to Snow Wheels...
Are there any particular wheels that are better for snow use? What I'm looking for is a wheel that resists packing with snow more so than others. Size would be either 15" or 16". A thought I had would be to just run steelies, they would definitely do the trick. But if a wheel that looks good for just a bit more than a steelie was available, I would be interested in that too. Any ideas?

Sport edition (I forget the model name). They're 7 spoke and cheap. They look like ASA's (boy...a copy of a copy)
I run em on the LGT with snows and they're fine and pretty cheap. They're heavy but who cares. Talk with Luke at Tire Rack and in the comments, put "Luke is teh awesome" so he gets all wierded out. I'm going to order another set but will probably wait till my b'day next month.jack |

the Sport Edition A7 is the wheel you are talking about and it is a very good choice for the OP's needs

I've used a VW steel rim for my snows. The offset is a bit off (5mm I think) but it doesn't affect performance that much. But find a wheel with the right offset for the width your'e looking for. What I suggest is to go one size thinner on the wheel. So if your tires/wheels are 7" wide go to a 6.5" width, this puts more pressure on each contact patch, increasing traction. The difference in this 1/2" is amazing.

I use the stockers for snow wheels.
You can probably get a set of stock 16" wheels pretty cheap in the classifieds. Stronger than the knock-offs. |

Offset thread if you are going with smaller wheel:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335263 Right now I'm using the stock 16" with Nokian WR1 which is stiffer & more durable. Good but not as good as skinnier rim with Pilot Snow Sport, those things were glued to the road. Depends how much snow/ice you have. In Toronto my current setup is good enough, if I were to go up north alot I'd go skinnier + Stickier like before. |

These are the ones I got for my package(in 15") and they stay pretty darn clean of snow. They're pretty open and smooth so snow just flings out. Good rims and they were on sale when I got them for a song. Last edited by KingHardcor; 01-01-2009 at 08:26 PM. Reason: corrected wheel size |

Luke, I was just browsing the Tire Rack website, I noticed that new lug nuts are included.
I drive a Canadian 2008 Impreza 2.5i 5-door. Will the A7 work with my car's OEM lug nuts? Because I already have a set of McGuard locks for my OEM alloys... would I need to buy another set for the A7 alloys? |

i say find a used set of oem rims, and put them on that, or put them on oems and get nicer rollers for summer.

I'm using my stock 16" 5 spoke 07 Impreza 2.5i wheels with the "fantastic"
RE92A's currently this winter (got some 17" old school Superleggera's for summer ).I was thinking something even more closed than my stockers. I was pretty keen to use 15" but the clearance isn't much on the stock wheels (my brakes are the originals too). Just worried that the steel wheel for say an 04 Impreza TS won't fit. Reasoning for going to the 15" is that the Nokian's (WRG2) I want come with a 100000km warranty for the appropriate 15" sidewall. |
