OMGHi2U Unabomber's last tune until his really last tune

Where: Mach V in Sterling, VA.

Who: Dan Hurwitz, owner and lead box kicker at Mach V

Car and Mods:
2004 Subaru WRX Sports Wagon (95,000 miles right now)
JDM STi BPV
Perrin Pulley
TurboXS Stealthback no cat version
Massiv USA catback
Grimmspeed ported exhaust manifold elbows
Grimmspeed exhaust manifold crossover pipe

CSS Performance FMIC
Ported Deadbolt Super16G
TGV deletes
Walbro fuel pump
APS turbo inlet
Deatschwerks 650cc injectors
Cobb AccessPORT & StreetTUNER
SPT Intake
Prodrive BCS

Tune Specifics: Tune was on 93 octane, target boost was 20PSI. Dyno is a Dynojet (stock 2.0L WRXs net 165 WHP)

Final and best run:

Earlier pulls:

In one fell swoop, I broke my three oaths here on NASIOC, stock turbo, intake, and TMIC 4 life y0! Dan and I are 97.45% sure more power is there, but we were both sick and tired of messing with it as we both put in 8 hours days on friday to do this due to various small problems.

I've really only gotten to drive in anger once so far, so I'll save my driving impressions for later, but my initial impression is I went from a 2 stroke dirt bike to a sport bike if you follow me.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of my sponsors, without whom I wouldn't be able to afford any of this crap:

Grimmspeed
Mach V
CSS Performance
Deadbolt
Deatschwerks

great setup, very well planned, good numbers.

it just looks like the spool-up needs alot of work then you'll be set. the 16g can be spooled pretty quickly compared to the stocker.

heck, I can get 22psi (my peak) on my 16g in 2nd gear!

Looking Good Una!
Are you aiming for a certain number, or just seeing how far you can go?

.....but id bet that you can get it shifted to the left a bit if you play with the tune and I think the tmic may be better with that setup in that respect as well

and 20 psi is just getting to where that turbo will start to SING

Getting that same exact setup tuned on Jan 23rd minus FMIC ( using a TurboXS TMIC ) and plus a ported intake manifold. Heres to hoping that Deadbolt decides to ship my turbo that I paid for 2 weeks ago sometime soon...

Remember folks, that's no "16G", that's a Deadbolt Super16G AKA "The Big Whore". It is bigger than the biggest 16G and just a nosehair smaller than an 18G. Spool is right about average for a 2.0L for that turbo give or take.

Old and busted:

I've heard switching to the txs rfl might increase your #s if coming from the stealthback.

If I had done all that at my cost, I would not be happy at all. My 2.0l with VF34 and TMIC has a very similar curve for much less cost.

I'm just a noob but the whole doesn't seem to equal the sum of the top-shelf parts. I'm sure you'll get it optimized and working in harmony, good luck.

You are right, there is spool play left on the table, but maybe I'll worry about that on my next tune.

I was looking for a 300ish set-up and I'm happy that I have been pretty accurate on my quest. There's more left with more parts and tuning, so maybe next time I'll do something different.

Yeah...20 is not extreme on this turbo, but I'm a chicken. My old stocker went from stock to 16 to 19 to 22 I think....I like being slow.

Not sure, I'm about to go whip that piece in a few hours to isolate some problems so I'll let you know.

Sure...I've crafted this set-up for over a year, but who knows...I might have missed something so I'm not ashamed to admit there is room for improvement that I haven't thought about.

LOL wut? My current exhaust should post identical or better numbers than any TXS offering.

If you knew my cost, you would probably draw a warm bath and slit your wrists ala Jim Morrison. The 34/Super16g curves would be quite different though.

Cant wait till your tunes finished.

I chickened out for some reason and never cared about the numbers, still a s16g is pretty fun to drive with 20psi by 3800 rpms.
