Default Ecu swap and Running too lean... Driveable without tune?

I just put an 04 STi engine in my 02 wrx. My 02 motor blew shortly after installing an aftermarket cold air intake, without modding/tuning the maf or ecu. At least one (admittedly not reputable) source said that could be what ruined my previous motor. Anyway I have the original air intake for the 02 and the am intake. Which would be better/safer to run on the 04? Is it safe to drive the car without having had it tuned? I'm not sure if the previous claim is valid but if it's near valid I don't want to drive the car. I'm having a hard time finding an awd dyno/tuner anywhere near Kansas City. Please respond with any thoughts!! Thanks

You posted this in the wrong forum. Do a search. The answer to your question is that I wouldn't trust an answer that says. you'll be fine, do it already.

Intake systems are known to cause wrx/sti to run lean. MY suggestion is to get it tuned right away! or at least take off the intake till you go get it tuned. especially now that you did a sti swap. Also you may need to clean your maf, or see if it still works. wet filters are known to gunk up the maf with oils and cause bad readings. clean it with a q-tip and alcohol. pm me for questions.

you think the oem 02 intake would be better than the aftermarket for the 04 then?
