Default 18x8.5 on a classic (GC8) ???

Morning,

Iím just after some info. on fitting 8.5Ē wheels on a classic (GC8) Scooby. Iím really wanting to get some Rota G-Forceís for my car, but as of yet am to find anyone who has successfully or even tried this width option; In the UK we tend to stick with what we know so 7.5Ē are the safe max as itís tried and tested. Knowing you guys like to be different and arenít scared of a little work was hoping a few RS people might have some advice/guidance?

The wheels Iím after come in an offset of 48 in the 8.5Ē width with 5x100 pcd, I have coilovers and the car will be running negative camber with a 215/35/18 profile tyre with a slight stretch. Iíve had a quick measure up as they will sit in an extra 13mm and also protrude a further 13mm, and it looks very close indeed! I am pretty much 100% sure the arches/fenders will require a roll, but unsure if that will still be enough.

Even if you have tried 8ís Iíd be interested to know any problems encountered and the tyre size and offset etc. as this may be enough to assist me.

(Iíve had a search, but couldnít find the answers, but if it has been asked before or someone is aware of a thread please just post it below and Iíll happily read through it.)

Many thanks and look forward to your replies; hopefully on the success side please.

Kev

You want 18s on a GC?

I had 18s on my car and everyone here knows how that went over.

that is 18x8.5 +45 with 235/40/18 tires(ithink that was the tire size)

i had some issues with rubbing because of height on really big bumps. front fenders were rolled, rear fenders were flared. running coilovers with front and rear camber plates, rear camber bolts, rear adjustable lateral links.

it would fit under the fender without flaring, but the small increase in overall diameter causes just a little bit of an issue.

You are the man, thanks.

What camber you running? and do you have any more shots from the sides and above for the rears? want an idea of how they sit / protrude from the arches/fenders.

Also, where did they rub? fronts, rears or both?

I'll be running a narrower and smaller profile tyre with a slight stretch, so hopefully i'll gain with that, also hoping to run some serious camber to assist , its only my weekend drive so not really worried about tyre wear.

Your help is really appreciated and nice flare

camber settings -3.2F and -2.5R (not the exact numbers but really close to that)

rubbed in the rear. theres a small bump inside the rear fender arches that touches the tire when it gets compressed.

thats all the pics i have of the setup really. i sold the car not too long ago. i miss it already.

the rim sits under the fender in the front and rear. i had WRX control arms too, so i have a wider front and rear track.
