Official page for the rally: http://www.rallyitaliasardegna.com/2009/gb/index_gb.htm
What is required of me to be permitted entrance to the Rally? Is there a box in which I should attempt to purchase seats? I will have the woman with me, but she's tough so she wouldn't complain too much about having her ass on a rock all day. Anyone ever done an overseas WRC event? What's required to be in attendance? The wife agreed to honeymoon in Italy and hop over to Sardegnia for the event. It will be incredibly difficult to pull off, but I want to know how much it will cost me in terms of just being able to watch it. I can figure out how much a hotel on the island is, etc. And I would likely only stay for Day 1 since Subaru has an illustrious track record lately in terms of making it through the damned events. ![]() Either way... I'm psyched at the prospects.

Yeah... forgot about that, lol. Either way, if we can make it, I'd like to head out there... so if anyone has the info, bump this!
BTW, what are all of the gory details of that... I'd heard the news awhile back and forgot it. I know Atkinson is with Citroen (best of luck to him), wtf is P. Solberg doing now? Luckily my Mitsu friends haven't heard this news yet or I certainly wouldn't have forgotten it once I'd heard it because I'd have heard it 11ty billion times already. Even though Mitsu dropped the WRC long ago. |

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukp...mhCPmQOYJfRXKQ I was led to believe otherwise... it looked to me like Citroen's junior team had picked him up and he was going to run more than a few races under them. I trust that you know better than me anyway... where do you get your info on WRC and keep up on it all? Also, do you know when Mitsu/Suby will re-enter the sport, if ever? Jesus, I just read that it was a result of FIA/WRC changing the rules and Suzuki pulled out of as well. Only Ford and Citroen are left in the WRC as manufacturers... WTH. How is there even a WRC left to speak of..? I think I'll just pass on this whole damned thing... it was a good idea in October when this all started, but the more research I do, I think I'm better off passing on that and pursuing the trip without the 3 days it would cost us to visit Sardegna. |

Sardegna itself is definitely worth the expense and the days. But I am sure you've seen the beautiful photos while researching (La Maddalena, Spargi, Porto Cervo). I usually visit Costa Esmeralda every other year, so the rally would just be a huge bonus. And the 40 minute flight out of Rome is over before you know it, because of the view from the plane and the flight attendants. Anyways, have a good trip!

I went to Rally Germany in 2006 with a few others on here. There they had at the main city that Rally was based in (Trier) a place to buy your pass to the rally, it was about 50 euros or so. You needed that to get past the guards at the parking areas and from there on to where the viewing locations are. With the pass they also gave you a map as to where the rally stages were and where spots were that you could go and see.
Don't expect seats, unless there is something for the super special stage, most of them you will be standing beside the road/trail and they cars will pass right by you. It looks like some of the stuff for that rally is not finalized yet, I would check back in the Spectator section later to see if they've added the Rally Guide which should tell you all you need to know. |

I would suggest getting some maps of the stages before you go and set up some sort of a game plan. Before getting into racing rallies I spectated a few of them. It is fun to spectate but it is a challenge to get to other vantage points on other stages.
I would try and figure out how many of the cars you want to see and then figure out the next point you would like to view them and then head that way. You will at the most see 1 minute of the cars going by and 5 seconds at the minimum. Basically it is like rallying without beng in the rally. And enjoy yourself, it is a chance of a lifetime Peace out Marvin, Gravel Crew Rally Team USA |

No you dont need tickets to stand on the side of the stages.. you can get tickets for the VIP, the real VIP and the service park observer areas.

This should be sweet. not sure how they organize this one but check on the website when it gets closer to the rally. If you don't want to drive, there may be opportunities for you to pay and get bused in to some of the viewing areas out on the stages.
I did this in mexico a few years back. wished I would have gotten a rental car and driven out there though. |

I went to this rally in 2006.
Just download the spectator maps online before you go and get a Michelin map for that area. They have specific spots for spectating with marshall's etc. Some of very good spots depsite being designated. This rally is attended by very few spectators. There is no charge for the service area or stages. Be sure to catch a full service. I went for the entire rally from ceremonial start to podium finish and was able to go to 2 different spectating spots plus a service each day. They will usually have 2 passes per stage area. pm me if you have any specific questions. It was awesome! And if I had the chance I would go again in a heartbeat. Be sure to time it to go to see this stage: ![]() |

I want to say its SS9/12 in this year's route but do be honest I don't totally remember.
Wait till the spectator guide is online and it will probably say. Also check some other forums for info (like: http://www.motorsportforums.com) |
