Default german castrol- new bottle, different color??

so i picked up my usual 5 qts GC/bosch filter today to change my oil after i found a small tear in my air filter while starting to do the 60K service, so i figured i needed to get any crap out of the engine that may have passed by...

but it seems they changed the bottle and cap (now a 'hex' style cap, and no foil seal) and the oil seems to be more of a gold color than the older greenish color...so has anything changed? i know the color changed back in 04/05...so has castrol changed the formulation or something? anyone else notice this?

Welcome to like 4 years ago There is the old "Green GC" and the new "Gold GC". Formula change, but it still a darn good oil. Use without concern.

well after doing some research on BITOG, it seems that the older bottle/label design GC i had used before is the GOLD as well (made in 08 from date code)...not the GREEN that was made in 2002-05

they just changed the bottle design some time in 08...back to hex caps/no foil

both of the different 'style' bottles have a date code of 2008

i guess i was hallucinating or something

I just recently put german castrol 0w30 in my civic. The color was gold and hex top. I guess they changed it.
