Just curious if anyone has any recomendations on a place that does carefull work swaping over tires in the Anchorage/Eagle River Area. My Stock Rims on my Jetta are 16" BBS's and I am really nervouse about getting my new tires put on them, lol. Last place I did it at on my hold car that I had 17"'s messed up my rims pretty bad.

You might check Sears surprisingly enough. Some BMW guys I used to know from down south were recommended by their dealers to get their tires changed there because they have some of the best equipment. Don't know if that holds true for up here too, but I'd guess they have the same equipment at all of the stores.

Tusin,

Also, you might want to call Muffler City, I forgot to mention them. They should be good at mounting low profile rims and tires. They should be able to hook you up, not sure what they charge though?

Ok Jansen got ya. I am going to give a call down there tommrorw and see if he is working. I dont know about muffler city. I am sure they can do a good job with out messing anything up. But first time I went there for new tires (Quite some time ago) they didnt even balance them, which I paid for. I thought somthing was wrong with me car, so I call them and they said the tires need a break in period, ok sounds good enough. So I just let it go for a long time. Didnt get better, I just got use to it. Then when I was in Reno, NV I had my old car shipped to me, and took it to Les Shaweb (How ever you spell that) for a Alingment, and they told me that I had no weights on my wheels at all, and they were all out of wack. Why am I the one always having bad experiances with tire stores, lol. Maybe Johnsons? They are a big store if they screw up anything I will just make them pay for it.

I get my wheels and tires done at the Texaco on Arctic and Tuder.

You have the Stock BBS rims right? Do you have the wolfsberg edition jetta?

Muffler city, they did my 275/40's without a single mark on my rims. They were balanced for me, at least up to 155 mph there's no vibration anyways...

Eero has a Hunter tire changer. Guaranteed not to make a mark on anywhere on your rims. I've been very happy with them so far and they mounted at least 3 sets of tires for me including a set of race rubber with very stiff sidewalls. The only downside is that they are a bit pricey for 17"+.

Argggg, like I have said before, me and tire places dont get along, lol. Well anyways, yesterday I went to Amercian Tire to have the tires swapped, one of my buddies Dad has a Honda with some real nice Momo's on there (Mid-Life Crisis, who knows), and he recomended them to me, he said they never leave a mark on his tires. So I call there talk to some people and they tell me that they have a bunch of differnt machines, and they really never have problems what so ever. And seeing how my Tires are 55 seris 16's they are not really Low Profile. So I go there, get them swapped, do a quick inspection, noting the little srachtes that were already there (Rock chips and what not), and everthing looked good. So today I go wash my car, and while I am putting some Tire Gel on, My finger runs over somthing sharp, I look closer and there is a gouge, looks nasty when sitting straight up.

So I give them a call, and they tell me to come down, and they were all very cool about it, took all my rims off, and they are going to send the one with a gouge to a body shop and have it all fixed up. They even had some OEM 16's (I think they are the stock ons on the GLS or GLX) that they put on my car with the new/used tires I have, so it still looks pretty sharp, I just miss my BBS's, lol. They say it should take about a week, sooner if the body shop is not busy. So all in all, at least they are taking care of me.
