Default eBay front mount fits fogs??

So, just wondering if anyone has used this FMIC and retained their fogs?? The big round fogs, like jdm v1-4 or 5-6. Im wanting to run V4 bumper, but dont know if i can keep the fogs with this kit.

Hmm, well it look like from that picture the pipes might clear since they are so far down in the bumper.

But if that is the same kit as the ebay special, I might have an issue with my ABS pump. Eh, if so, just more motivation to finally take it out, doesnt work with the V4 swap neways.

Jaxx- How do you like the turbo inlet?? Ive been eyeing one for a while now.

You shouldn't have any problems with the abs pump.
Fogs will work also.

Any pictures from ground level head on Jaxx? I want to see how much it hangs below the stock bumper - I have a the OE lip but that is not as low as Aphex's.

The v4 bumper is an inch or so higher than a v5. Still doesn't clear the ic though.

i have a picture of it on my ej20g...but its on my other compy.
The only difference though is the intake. It didn't require any modification past the steps I took to modify it on the US STI

Hmm, that core is a little tall. looks like even with the JDM beam it sticks out there.

The seller states that this
Quote:
Newly Released Improved WRX 95-00 kit. We have revised the older version of this kit, to have better air flow and ground clearance
I wonder if these kits you guys have are the "increased ground clearance" kits?? These revised kits have a 12" tall core. What do you guys core spec out at??

Ok I am glad I am not crazy. I bought one of these and decided the intercooler hung down way too far for gravel use.

Anyone know if the pipe kit is available by itself? I am thinking of using it (modified) with a different core

I'm not sure how much reading you've done, but it fits pretty much fine. If it doesn't run the right way, you just need to cut the pipe and buy some better couplers. You will probably have to spend another $100 or so in couplers, bov adapter and worm clamps/tbolt clamps.

I don't think I've seen two of the kits installed exactly the same, as in, you have to lay the pipes out and figure out where it needs to be cut. Differs from pipe to pipe, kit to kit.

I removed the front bumper skin and USDM bumper beam from my '98 L today and installed a '97 JDM beam. After taking measurements it still looks like I might lose the fogs and will still have to hack the crap out of my bumper skin with an FMIC. If I go with an FMIC, I like this vs. the CX eBay version. It's a little more expensive, but according to the description, it should be a straight bolt up (which I don't believe).

^^ With almost every FMIC your going to have to trim your bumper around the core. There is just no way around it. Also on my last car, it had the 98usdm bumper, and really trying to keep the fogs on that bumper with a fmic would be a pain. They sit so low in the bumper almost every "kit" is going to hit the fogs. You would have to go with a setup that ran the pipes close to the beam instead of near the bottom of the bumper.

On another note, I have been browsing around to find a core thats a little shorter height wise, but I want it wide, so you cant see the endtanks. Havent really found much, that wont kill the bank anyway. Im not really sure what to do yet.

A little off topic, but I'm seriously considering an air to liquid IC. The price will be more than an eBay FMIC, but the heat exchanger is 26"L x 7.5" W x 2.5" D. The IC is around 11"x 9"x3" and you have a lot of flexibility running your feed and return hose and the pump should fit many different locations. The size of the heat exchanger should allow me to keep the fogs and hopefully not hack up the bumper skin.

Fogs should work, however making this thing fit with the ABS pump was a bear. I had to unbolt it and have a friend hold it out of the way while I cut to make room for the hot pipe.

See that goes to show how much each kit differs from each other. I haven't had any problems with the abs pump on the 3+ kits I've done.

Not sure if you'll be able to keep the fogs. I had to do a whole lot of trimming where the fogs mount.

you may have to come up with a custom mount for the lights. not too difficult if youve managed to install the intercooler setup yourself. ie if you can do that you should be able to find a way to maintain the fogs.
