Default Understand Wheel Offset

I have a 2006 STI that I am thinking about getting another set of wheels for. From what I have read the 06 STI has 17X8 wheels with a 50mm offset?? The wheels I am looking at are 17X7 with a 42mm offset. Would these look silly?? I used to own some Rota Tourqes (sp) that stuck out of the fenders a little more than my stock BBS's do. Does that mean they have more offset? or less.

I know how many Suby-Geniuses there are on this forum, so look forward to any advice/knowledge anyone cares to share.

lower the offset.. the center of the rim is closer towards the motor.. higher offset is vice versa (towards outside)

IMO a lower offset making the wheel stick farther out than the stock BBS wheel would actually make the car look better, not silly

I wouldnt go with a 7inch wheel unless you are doing land speed racing. If it was me I would really need to rethink that sizing. You are going to loose rubber. Rubber makes grip.

I am all for a lower offset, but dont loose your ability have rubber. the wheels may look like they are set out wider, but at the end of the day you still have mexican width wheels.

Also you could get 9.5 inch wheels but still run a 235 width tire, which would really do nothing when you could possibly run a 265 width tire!
