Default new(to me) gas compressor, what maintenance?

I just picked up a Hitachi EC25E compressor. http://www.google.com/product_url?q=...hl=en&sa=title

The guy said he changed the oil and the sparkplug. But the pull cord is a bit pulled out from its housing. Other than fix the pullcord, Is there any other maintenance I should do to it before I start using it? Or should it be good to go? I'm verry new with 2 cycle engines. is there anything I should be listening/looking for out of the ordinary ?

that is a 4 stroke engine, not a 2...

pretty much think of it as an very tough car engine. change the oil and air filters once a year and you really dont' have to think about it much. (there are also two sets of oil and air filters for that, one for the engine, and one for the compressor. compressor oil never really needs to be changed, just keep it full)

be VERY careful repairing the pull starter. They have a very fun spring under tension, really good to jump out and hit you in the face. (don't ask!)
