Default ABS stuck

Every now and then when its wet out (raining or snowing) my ABS will tweak out, the motor thing keeps running an ABS light is triggered. When i turn of the car it keeps going!. I cna only stop it by either disconnecting the battery or whacking that little black plastic box by the ABS stuff under the hood. Sometimes that doesnt work and i pull theplug next to the same box and it stops, the light is still on and ABS doesnt work but it wont kill my battery. After a few days when it dries up it is ok. Since i have no knowladge of ABS sysems, what is causing this? a stuck relay? how do I fix it??

If your whacking something and it sometimes fixes it. Then 90% of the time that indicates a stuck relay. Replace the ABS relay that your whacking and see if that fixes it.

There was a TSB for
"sticking ABS relay", advising to replace
it with an updated
part in case of malfunction.
According to ALLDATA, the TSB
number is 06-28-96. However, the ABS
system covered by that TSB is likely
different from the one on your car.

Hawk296, I just noticed your car is
a '95, so the TSB may indeed apply.
Yes, the relay is one of the two found
under the black cover, although I don't
know which one.
I do not have a full text of the TSB. But you would likely find out which relay
it was if you try to get a new one.

One more thing, to preclude any
misunderstanding: the black cover in
question is the one on the ABS hydraulic
unit, rather than the cover on the left
fender next to the battery.

yes, that is the cover I am talking about and the one I am whacking. Underneath appear to be 2 relays, it is between these I must figure out which is the one causing the problem. But now i only have to look between two relays. Not big deal now that i know it is not something completly different and complex that I know nothing about. So this helped a great deal. Thanks.
