The goal of this Winter Time Attack series is to drive fun-to-drive cars on some awesome tracks/circuits offered in GT4. No car will cost more than 150,000 credits (in the US version) and all cars will be raced on street tires. As a result, there'll be no F1 or Race car class. There will be two three week rounds - the 1st in January and the 2nd in February.

THIS ROUND WILL END ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 31ST @ 12:00 MIDNIGHT - NO EXCEPTIONS

The ground rules are simple:

- Street Tires always

-Three weeks per challenge (each challenge will have three cars to run on different tracks/circuits)

-Two tires on the tarmac at all times, that means two full tires, if you've got two tires on the dirt and two tires halfway on the dirt, your lap is no good. The curbs count as tarmac, as do cobblestones and concrete and pretty much anything that isn't grass or dirt or gravel. If you need any clarification at any point, just ask and I'll make a ruling. Just want it to be fair and more importantly, the same for everyone.

-No contact with the walls EVER unless a "mulligan" is specifically allowed. If you touch a wall, the lap is dirty and doesn't count.

-All laps will be done in Gran Turismo (simulation) mode, in the 5 cr. Practice session. **Save your ghost replay in case you ever need to defend your integrity.**

-NO NITROUS, EVER. PERIOD. Nuff said.

-Oil changes and car washes are always allowed.

-Driver aids are always up to you.

-Post your times in this format: TIME/DRIVER/CLASS
example: 1'23.456/Chiketkd/Race

SCORING FORMAT

Tracks 1-3: Points will be awarded to the top 8 per the F1 scoring system:
1st - 10
2nd - 8
3rd - 6
4th - 5
5th - 4
6th - 3
7th - 2
8th - 1

Bonus challenge: It is not necessary to run the Bonus to win these GT4 Time Attack challenges. However, doing so can greatly improve your chances of winning. This is how it'll work - I'll take your finishing position in the Bonus challenge and use it to replace your lowest finishing postition in the other three challenges (note: only if it's higher).

Example #1 - If you finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the GTR, NSX and E55 challenges and finish 2nd in the Bonus challenge, you will be awarded points based on a 1st and two 2nd places finishes.

Example #2 - If you finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the GTR, NSX and E55 challenges but finish 3rd in the Bonus challenge, you will be awarded points based on a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finish (i.e. the Bonus challenge will have no affect on your total points).

Ohhhhhh man, you're really determined to destroy my motivation to leave the house, aren't you?

Let's see...Tsukuba is always a good challenge, I love the NSX-R, Midfield is pretty cool, Never driven the E55 but I'll bet it's an experience with all that weight and power, Apricot Hill is one of my all-time favorites, and a Caterham 7 on the 'Ring?

LOL. The E55 AMG is a hoot to drive -- a bit of push at the limit but you can easily tune it out with your suspension settings. It's one of my favorite full-size sedans in GT4. Makes ~530hp iirc with the allowed upgrades (exhaust and chip).

The GT-R N1 is my favorite GT-R model -- it rotates mid corner almost telepathically. The NSX-R is obviously pure SEX to drive as is the Caterham!

Apricot Hill is also one of my fav tracks, but I also like El Capitan and Deep Forest which I'll be using in the February challenge.

Hmmmm a Skyline that isn't cursed with terminal understeer? This could be very good indeed

I'm also a fan of El Cap and DF, but I'm markedly slow at El Cap for some unknown reason

Maybe it's b/c of the ski jump at El Cap! That one hill is tricky to navigate...

Look like some fun with the cars close to what we would make in the real world.
The hill at El Capitain feel is great when you hit all the apexs.

How'd you like the looseness of the GTR N1? I was running that car a bit as well and knocked a smidgen more off my time:

I like driving all the Skyline's alot and can make them go fast. I'm so use to driving a 911hp Nur that 399hp just feels slow.

Damn - I thought my NSX-R lap was as good as it got. I guess I left a 1/100th of a second on the table!

I know the 1'15's can be made with the NSX-R. I overbraked going into the second tunnel or keep losing the rearend setting up for braking.

I'm at a 59.998 right now. I keep finding tenths though, trying whole new approaches to different corners. Skyline is a very interesting car to drive, I need to control the corner exit oversteer. Or get a wheel so my throttle is modulateable.

Corner exit oversteer is definitely tricky to control. Like you, I'm also using a controller as is JL iirc...

Speedtheory are you useing the buttons or the right analog stick for throttle and brakes?
If it's the buttons give the analog stick a try it's the one I use. The only down side is you can't do throttle and brake at the same time.

I should be there along with my co-driver Shawn. What class do you compete in? Do you ever run autocross events with the DC region?

I haven't lived up there in 3 years, but have come home over summer sometime and helped ran the NCCBMWCCA autocrosses. Ran with AI a bit, didn't have a competitive car back then (was running an E36 in STS), and was never around to do the season subscriptions, and didn't feel like waking up early to get into those events. I know a bunch of the local autocrossers, though. TeamWTF, etc.

EDIT: I'm running a Mazda3 in H-Stock. Aside from finalizing our tire setup and perhaps converting my rear Konis to D/As, I'm pretty much ready to go.

Cool. A mazda 3 is definitely a good car to have for HS. What's your name? I'll have to look for you in the pits. I'm definitely up for a little GT4 while I'm down there.

Ryan Davies. The car is Dark Gray, will be stickered with BigBrakeParts.net, Foundation Autosport, and William Designworks Vinyls. We'll be around in blue shirts w/orange print. Hopefully I'll have the new EZ-UP w/sides so I don't have to worry about the flat screen blowing over.

Hopefully we'll have some nice, long courses as is the tradition at SGMP. Need every advantage I can get over those blasted MINIs
