Default Locked Out of Trunk

I did a trunk swap not too long ago. After the swap I was too tired to reconnect the trunk lock cable to the latch assembly. I saved that job for another day. In the meantime, I could only unlock my trunk from inside the cabin of the car -- since the lock on the trunk was not hooked up.

All was fine and well until one day, I was loading groceries in the trunk and I vaguely remember accidentally hitting a little lever on the latch (on the trunk lid itself)...as I shut the trunk I remember thinking...oh *****...

Now, I can't open my trunk with the key or from the cabin.

It's an 05 STi, so it doesn't have a trunk pass through. I also have amps mounted on the inside of trunk wall as well.

Am I going to have to have the trunk lock punched out? Or am I SOL?

Lightbulb

Get a locksmith to open it instead of butchering your car.

A locksmith can do that?

Just to make sure everyone understands...the key/lock assembly on the trunk is NOT attached to the cable inside that will actuate the release mechanism. So, turning a key is pointless.

Maybe maybe not? but I'm sure there's an old locksmith or someone who knows what to do in this situation that forgoes butchering.

Be thankful you werent IN the trunk doing the swap and some joker shut you inside it.
Pull the backseat maybe you can reach the release with a stick.

pull the back seat and use something to reach and pull down the trunk release latch. ive had to do that before, i used a long ice scraper. Luckily my 03 wrx has a pass through to the trunk.

I'm going to try to take the rear seat out and reach for the trunk release. Thanks for all the advice!
