Default H&R's do not fit MY00~ Legacy...

Well, after a long wait my springs finally arrived on Monday. I went to the shop, disassembled my stock suspension, took out my new springs (correct part number, confirmed with H&R on phone and on catalog), but they don't fit. So, we call up H&R and they say "didn't you see the little note in the box?" Well, yes we did but that is after we ordered them, after we paid for them, and after we opened the box in the shop to install them. The note read, "may not fit some applications". Well, I was slightly choked. They had said on the phone they would fit, they advertize in their new catalog that they fit, yet they do not fit. So, they were returned. Looks like I am getting either whitelines or the non-height/dampening adjustable JIC coilovers. I already have the part number for JIC but not for the whitlines.
If anyone has the part number for Legacy L Wagon springs (MY01), it would be appreciated.

*sigh* that's because there are no springs for your car yet. Or struts. Or anything except coil-overs.

How would you put coil overs on the back of the wagon when the spring and the shock are are seperate and not mounted together? Coil over kinda implies that the spring is mounted on the shock.

On some cars (if not all) that have a separate shock/spring combo, manufacturers will "integrate" the shock and spring together, effectively making it a coilover system. They just don't use the original spring perches.

Question STi

Has anyone considered/tried the STi Struts/Shocks and Springs listed on their site? At one point in time Rallyspec thought they could get them for me - 4 way adjustable - 175/275 Lb/in springs -listed for BE/BH?

Just curious...

Isr performance has king spring that are supposed to fit the BE/BH. I don't remember his full screen name, but Ryan (TY200somthing ) from Seatle ordered a pair. Hopefully they work out for him. I'm leary on being the first test subject.

Here is the rest of the list for STi Legacy parts.

I am planning to purchase the kg/mm spring DR sports from Japan. The primary spring rate will be similar to STi while orginal rate will be about 30% stiffer. This might be an alternative solution.

Have to add in something here - the springs for the B4 RSK/GT-B are sized to fit the Bilstein shocks and the spring perches for those cars. As long as the spring perches are the correct size, the springs for JDM B4's and GT-B wagons should fit. However, some better damped shocks would be advisable.

I can't remember the part # now. I'm back in Whistler.
It was the correct # that is listed in both the 2000 and 2001/2 catalog.
Don't the Whitelines fit? I think JIC has a coilover set as well that are supposed to fit. But after my spring/shock fiasco I'm pretty skeptical.

Personally, people who make comments like that (H&R) should automatically be dragged out back an shot :monkey: I mean really, that's got to be stupidest thing to say or maybe just they could care less.

H&R: ??? why didn' t read the note inside the box. The box you don't have till you have already ordered the product

Looks like H&R has no intention to produce springs for MY00 Legacy sedan.

More than a year ago, after I installed a set of Tein spring, I sent in my stock spring to H&R by someone's request. They mentioned it was for R&D purpose.

Now, it's been over one year, and H&R has not coming out w/ sedan spring. seems like they don't care about the legacy market.

Damn! I want my spring back~:monkey:

Update:

After I sent a nearly "hate" mail to H&R. They finally responded something back to me.

We have been active in the Legacy sedan fitment issues and do not have a cure at this time. The sedan springs are not the same dimensions as the wagon and will not cross fit.
I do not have any springs to send you nor do I have in my possession the springs that we received through SPO Motorsports. The springs that we received from SPO went to H&R Germany to further our development. When we received these springs, we were told that these were extra springs and they would not need to be returned.
I can tell you that we are still working on the development of the sedan kit but I do not have any eta on this kit at this time. I will try to keep you informed when we do finish development.

Thank you,
Steven
