Default Track Day Project

This is a project i've been helping with. 91 318is. The car is being built to Spec E30 specs with the exception of the motor. We are putting an M20 into it instead of the 4 banger. It will be for track days and hopefully a hillclimb or two this year.

This is how we got her. Had quite a bit of bondo all it.

Hopefully it will be as fun to drive as the build has been so far.

Cheers,

Joey

M20:

It will be 11:1 compression ratio. Schrick 288 cam. Mild porting on head. Hoping for 230ish on race gas.

Still need to order rocker arms and clutch and then bolt it all in.

Cheers,

Joey

Still have alot of the little things to wrap up. Those always seem to take forever. Still need to mount a proper seat(the NRG was just for fitting purposes), mount fire suspression system, etc.

Cheers,

Joey

We have an 86 325 that will eventually be a track car if we get time to work on it. We would love to drop an LSx into it, but have been thinking that an S50 would be much easier.

We thought about an LSx, but the cost was just too much for right now. We are probably going to drive the car as is for a year or so and get more seat time\experience and then go to an LSx.

We have gotten quite a bit more done. This weekend i'll take some pics to post up.

Tony, have any pics...I just love looking at builds in progress or before pics.

Cheers,

Joey

These are before pics. We have several other pics we took when replacing all the bushings on the car, but that's as far as we have gotten. BTW, let us know if you need bushings. We have a line of bushings from Whiteline that are not released yet that are awesome for this car.

Nice build. I just purchased a Porsche 944 and I will be turning that into a the Spec 944.

I thought about E30 but I just the Porsche's handling better and I think it's a bit faster then the E30.

Good luck.

I thought the same thing. I checked several races at Road Atlanta and it looked like the Spec E30, Spec944, and Spec Miata were very close in laptimes. All seemed to be about the same $ to build. I would like to do a 944 or SM sometime.

Keep us posted on your build.

Cheers,

Joey
