Default Feeler 2008 Red STI

Car Sold Last week to a NASIOC member from the credit union

Edit: Pics added below.

Note the edit on mileage.

The bank I work for just repo'd a red 2008 STI with 11,000 miles (I drove it home and had misread). They are having trouble obtaining value (there is no blue book value published yet). I have the opportunity to potentially get a steal of a deal on this car. Surprisingly, the car was dropped off in pristine condition and with gas in the tank (rare with a repo). A young guy bought it, had 600+ dollar a month car payments, and turned it in saying simply, "I can't afford it anymore."

I don't really want an STI - too poor gas mileage for my taste. If I offered it up for sale for $23,000 on here, would I have any takers? Also, I would have a title in hand. I need a pretty quick response because our collections manager is going to be talking to our auction rep very soon. I am in the central Virginia area - 2.5 hours from DC.

Added on 11/14: I drove the car home for lunch to make sure that there was nothing wrong with it. This is the non-BBS package without fog lights. One wheel has a good ding in it and another has curb rash. The car was driven, so it does have very small chips in the hood like any car that gets driven.

Email me at david.e.whitcomb@gmail.com if interested (I can't check personal email at work, so will only be able to reply in the evenings).

Chips in the hood:

Chunk out of rear rim:

Curbage on rear rim:

Mileage (I turned the key to get the mileage):

it might be a good deal.
that $25k sti @ 6.xx percent intrest for 60 months is the same as a $30k sti @ the dealership with 0% interest @ 60 months....

It is not as new as I had thought - note mileage edit above. This is still a feeler because I have to make a bid to buy it yet, and the collections manager has yet to contact our auction house. I will keep track of the offers I am receiving and give first come first serve priority - if someone's money falls through, the next in line will get a chance.

Additionally - if 25 is too high - make an offer - be reasonable

Hmmm, a kid turns in a car with 11k on the clock b/c he can't afford it. That STi had to have been beaten on. Imagine someone with nothing to lose with such a powerful car that he knows he can't keep.

I would think the same thing - but trust me, we have a Lexus IS300 too - and it was beat, literally. Dents, scratches, and more. We see some serious crap done to repo'd cars, and this was not one. We also have a BMW 645i in our lot - it had a smoker as an owner, but other than that, the car is immaculate. This hasn't had to be cleaned at all. We had a mini at one point that looked like the person played in mud and then climbed around the car - it was disgusting. We have also had mustangs with serious knock and other problems... this car is not the same. If I was looking to get a new car, this would be mine.

Also, if the kid felt he had nothing to lose, he would have tried to hide the car and have it towed in - at our expense, not his...

Thanks, that's good info. So if it wholesales for 22-23, what could the average person find one for? No Dealer would sell one for $23000.

The cheapest 2008 STI I see on Autotrader (after a quick look) was $25000, there was only 1 - most are $27K and up, and ina 500 mile radius around my zip code, there weren't too many for sale total.

Please don't ignore my statement earlier to make reasonable offers.

Do you have any 04 or 06 wagon? THe STI sounds like a good deal but still too much for my pockets.

If you live, work, or worship in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia- Augusta County, Rockbridge County, Rockingham County, Woodstock Area, Harrisonburg Area - the credit union could potentially finance the car.
I'd be pretty happy with $22-23K (assuming I get the car for my bid)
