finally, ha. i thought an 11 second street legal electric old school corolla was pretty freakin sweet.

i guess it's a bit foreign to all the catless, o2 sensor skipping, leaded gasoline chaps (myself included) in here.

wonder what that would cost for a hobbyist to do?

Eh.. This guy thinks he's helping the environment, but the plug that charges his car is still powered by oil. The thing is fast though

*sigh*

1. Petroleum makes up a whopping 1.6% of electricity generated in the US, it's mostly Coal, Natural Gas, and Nuclear.

2. Average IC engine efficiency is around 16%, with Well-To-Wheels efficiency of around 14%. A good power station turbine can see 60% efficiency, with the overall power station @ 40%+, and up to 60% in a combined cycle plant. Combining that with a fairly high efficiency in the vehicle itself and you end up with a notably higher Well-to-Wheels efficiency, the number that counts. A rough calc looks like double the WTW efficiency.

That car is awesome but the guy was kind of a douche. "I like that I'm not burning foreign oil," typical treehugger speak. This guys must be t. boone pickens' #1 fan.

Anyway, the car is cool, but it's rediculous that he has to plug it in for 15-20 min. after each run. That case of lithium ion batteries he installed probably cost a small fortune.
