Post CT New Year's Drive (non-Subie)

Non-subie content but thought some might be interested.

Alrighty, here is the official info I promised. You can also visit the
following address, Where I will post any changes &/or additions: http://www.crosswinds.net/~philipspo...1/nyd/nyd.html

New Year's Drive:

In an attempt to get everyone out of the house in January, I have decided to
organize a group drive. This will be a fun event consisting of a brisk drive
of about 3-3.5 hours on back roads, ending at a local restaurant. The route
will involve some nice hilly twisty roads, some scenic small towns & follow
portions of the CT river. There will be a few stops along the way to regroup
& socialize. It will be primarily VW's & Audis, but is open to cars of all
makes & models. I would like to invite everyone to come out & have some fun.
This is a family event, so significant others & well behaved children are
welcome.

It will take place on Sunday January 7th, rain, shine or snow, it is winter
after all. The start will be at the Westbrook outlet mall, exit 65 off of
I-95 in Westbrook, CT, we will meet around 10:30 & start the drive around
11:00. The route is about 2-2.5 hours of driving, so I am estimating it will
take 3-3.5 hours to complete once we make some stops along the way, so we
will be arriving at the restaurant around 2:00-2:30. We will be winding
through the towns of: Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Haddam,
Killingworth, Old Saybrook & of course Westbrook. I have typed up some rally
style cue sheets, so get here early & you will have directions in case the
group gets broken up along the way.

One word of caution. While none of the roads are "car breakers", we will be
traveling on some back roads which will have potholes, cracks, bumps, yumps,
etc. People whose cars have unusually low profile tires &/or extremely
limited suspension travel may want to consider bringing out the "winter
beater", "family car", etc. I do not want to discourage anyone, as I have
resisted the strong temptation & I have included No Unpaved Roads, I just
figure that I should let everyone know fully what to expect.

If you are interested in coming please let me know. I am trying to get a
rough head count so I can let the restaurant have an idea of how many people
to expect. Please contact me at PhilipM3@tiac.net if you are interested in
coming or have any questions.

Directions To The Start:
>From New Haven & Points West:
I-95 North.
Exit 65.

Exit 65.
LEFT at end of ramp.

Use left lane & turn LEFT at 2nd light.
Proceeded up access road to mall.

I love the roads in that part of CT. Lots of back roads, little cops.
