I also came from a Lexus (SC300 manual). I bought my WRX from Subaru Santa Cruz and they are absolutely fantastic. Carlsen also seems to get a lot of praise on this board as well. You should be able to get the car for $500 over invoice (or close to it).

Cheers, Joe

Post Wha?!?

Those guys are still asking for the $5G mark up?!? Shine them. They were asking for that before the WRX was available in early 2001. I laughed in the sales man's face and he started mumbling something about real sports cars didn't need turbos. I have not been impressed positively by Steven Creek's sales people or their service department.
I had a very positive purchasing experience at Carlsen (Wayne Herron) and an extremely positive experience with the service department at Santa Cruz. Try those guys.

I got my car at Carlsen, and the car came standard in silver "like I asked for!"

They priced it $350 over invoice, (kick ass) and the car had 5 miles on the odometer.

Paperwork was done in like 30 mins tops, and only took that long cause I talked a lot.

In and out of the dealership in less than 1 hour. That place has no haggle, so you won't have to go through the ritual of car buying before you can wheeze off in your new car.

Ron Price came in 2nd with pricing, but they didn't have the car I wanted. They were making about $300 or so more on me than Carlsen, and I would expect them to be a bit more uptight in the city than in Redwood City.

I did my shopping VIA E-Mail, which I think many of you guys should try next time around. I did my research with edmunds.com and read all kinds of tips in car buying. After seeing how Carlsen was a "Satrun type" dealership, my studies gone to waste, all except the "shop online" tatic which DOES give you a GREAT price right off the bat!

Hey Rich hows it going? Seen you over at IS300.net alot but I had no idea that you wanted a wrx sedan. I would have to say that your best bet would be either Santa Cruz or Ron. As for mods....well what do you want to do with your car? There is always Vishnu stage 0/1 or Turbo XS 1/2 or Cobb 1/2. It all depends.

Yeah, that's about right.

Santa Cruz Subaru -- talk to Sandy Charney and mention the i-Club. They are honest and customer-driven. And if you buy your car there, you get free oil changes and rental cars when you go back for service!

It's worth the drive. I got my WRX in the infamous "i-Club Group Buy" of the first allocation (organized by Philip).
