Default Attainable 500hp list

Im curious what would it take to attain 500hp on a sti. Besides an full sb swap. What setups can be ran for a 500hp 2.5 stock bottom sti? Ive searched but have not came up with a clear answer. Post up dynos if you have a setup as i have questioned.

There are oodles of threads in here that show what cars used to make XXX power.

At the bottom of the Proven Power Bragging forum, change the "From the" drop down list in the "display Options" to "Beginning" and then go through all the posts until you find what you want.

Bigger turbo, more fuel, more air, better clutch, tuning.

When you blow the stock motor up, build better.

And lastly, more search.

500whp on a stock STi bottom end? I'd rethink the plan overall. Not a good idea.

gt35 + meth or race gas......then wait until it pops....which will be soon after

350-450whp seems to be the most common window for blowing the stock motor.

you cant really nail it down....i mean its really dependant on tune, driving style, etc.

there are guys that get gt35's and get a c16 tune at 500+whp, then get a 400whp pump gas tune and claim their 500whp setup lasted for 100k miles.

then there are the guys who are gonna get a 500+whp tune, then drag race the car every weekend and use open source to try and eek out a few more hp.

which setup do you think is gonna last longer?

Are you talking 500hp at the crank or the wheels?

I'm running a built block, heads, cams, fuel, FP Red turbo, FMIC and supporting bits... its making 400whp on a lazy 19.5psi pump gas no meth. Stock sti puts down 224whp on this dyno.

I suppose you're speaking of 500whp.
Stock bottom end on the STi will have a bit of trouble with hitting 500whp.
However, it's something along the lines of GT37R to GT40R, water/meth injection, FMIC, big fuel injectors, fuel pumps, TGV deletes, and forged shortblock internals.

Do a search in this proven power forum. There are several cars with 500+whp.

Ouch!

To reply to the OP:

I am going to assume you are referring to WHP. As was mentioned before, you will need these basics:

35r sized turbo-many options out there. Are you thinking rotated or "stock" location?

Bigger Injectors- 850cc at least

Upgraded Intecooler- FMIC with proper piping

Race Gas or Meth/Alky Injection- because 500whp is not going to happen safely or at all on 91-93 pump.

Engine Management and Tune- Crucial. Find a reputable tuner, or none of these parts will be worth a damn.

TGV deletes-recommended

Spare block- Expect to replace your short block as longevity will certainly be an issue. You will break stuff.

Clutch.

Going to be drag racing and launching hard? Expect to break axles.

500whp is not cheap.

Good luck with the build, and for future reference, the 2.5 technical section would be a more suitable location for this thread.

Hope this helps.

GT3528R is the most common way to go but all you need is some pistons which is like $500, and then that motor will last much longer. Might as well get buy and install some pistons. I guarentee it's going to blow after a few runs on the dyno making 500whp.

512whp, 10 sec slip, 124+ Traps 101 1/8th miles.. Its been this way for around 1yr already.
I wouldn't say he is the norm, but its possible. Xdrian did it too, but his car is 350lbs lighter then bills.. At the same time his car also traps 131+ mph on the stock motor and a 35r
I was daily driving my GC with 460whp/35r on 93 and the stock STI motor.

I know of several 500hp stock motor guys that daily drive at 500hp and all of them have over 50K miles at that power. If your tuner is good and you pay attention to your car's needs and drive it like a sensible person it'll last.

GT3582 I think you meant

You can make 500WHP on a GT3076 .82 with 100% Q16 (none of that 40-93/60-Q16 mix) and 30psi. And one hell of a bottom end
