Default No Schroth quick-fit for the 08-09s, anyway to make the rallye 4 plug/play?

Just got an email from Schroth that they will not make the Quick Fit for the 08/09 Impreza (don't think they made it for the 06/07 either). Is there anyway to make the Rallye 4 relatively plug and play with the right hardware?

TIA

Hey guys, I worked for Schroth up until last month. I'm currently working on my custom paint business...but anyways, I did the test fits for the new 08 STIs and WRXs. The reason that the NEITHER belt will work, quickfit or rallye 3/4 is because of the seats in the car. The stock seats with the shoulder holes are too soft for the belts. Basically what that means is that the area that the belts would run through will not handle a belt. The seat shoulder opening would compress so much that it could perhaps collapse under the belt in the event of a crash. Those holes are purely cosmetic. If you had after market seats in it, you could definitely do a rallye 4 belt. Make sense? 06/07 seats do not have a quickfit belt because the female ends are a different fit than the previous years. They could make one, and I wish they would.. but the cost of finding seats to destroy, building a jig and sled to test the belts in and then put it into production is a bit steep and the demand is not high enough. What I use to tell customers is to find belts out of a previous...most likely on the part out forum here and simply install those and then put a quickfit in. It's all the same bolt in points, just different female and male ends. Feel free to drop me a line in you want.

so what kind of belt buckle ends does the 08 have? will a quickfit for an 05 work assuming aftermarket seat?

Another fail on Subaru's decision not to put Recaros in the US STI.

I certainly haven't dissected the new seat, but by both appearance and feel- I don't see much different from it and the 04 seats (WRX and STi). Did FHI go through that much trouble to substantially change the seats- sounds like an odd thing to do???

Are you saying that 06/07 seats are functionally the same as 04/05? Just trying to be clear.

I've seen the 04/05 seats (owned one) seen the 06/07 seats (buddy owns one) and now the 08/09 seats (currently own)- they look the same to me (minus the coverings)- I buy the part on the receptacle not being the same as I remember when the first quick fits came to the US- they ALL had to be sent back because they were the wrong receptacle- evidently the EU used different ones than us- the the 06's came along and changed again

I really liked the quick fit- but the rallye4 will have to do

I had a Rallye3 installed in my 08 WRX and it will soon be in my 08 STI as well. I mounted the shoulder anchor to the rear passenger seatbelt reel (under the rear quarter window) and it worked great. There's no way to mount the Rallye4 unless you anchor the shoulder straps to the lower seatbelt anchors.. which brings us back to the whole reason Schroth doesn't want to do the quick-fits.

^ I still have hard time believing the 04/05 seats w/ the past throughs were "fine", and possibly the 06/07's too???????- but not the 08/09's- the seats seem identical to me

does the rally3 w/ one mounting point properly center the shoulder straps still?

i just saw this thread get bumped to the top again. The AUS version of the car I'm unsure of as I never did any testing on that car. The US 08 seats do not work! There is too much compression within the seat hole and it will collapse under the load of the belt in the event of a crash. Myself and another employee who still works at Schroth did the testing. Please, if you have any questions regarding the belts call Schroth at 800-884-BELT. Talk to any of the guys there. Matt and I (Luke) were the ones who worked on the 08... Tim, Jeff, Joe (owner), or Derek can all help you out.

Hey LukeD,

so then if we get different seats (like Sparco fixed back seats or similar)..then the quick fit for the 05 will work?

I'm not 100% sure on which female belt ends are in the 08+. You could probably cross reference part #'s. 02-05 wrx/sti belts will work. So if you had different seats and different female belt ends they would work. But... You have to find a way to fix the airbag sensor if you change the seat.
