Default so i think i might of gotten screwed over

so i bought this access port ver.1 from a guy (not gona throw his name out there yet even tho i was going to) but i bought it from him back in november for $400!!!!! i didnt kno that they go for about $250, but that was my mistake. anyway, when i tried it on my car, it said something like it wasnt unmarried or something. so i figured the guy who had the car before must of had accessport but never unmarried it. so i sold it to another guy and he had the same issue. i gave him his money back and i got the accessport back. i tried calling the guy who i got it from for over a week and he never returned my calls or texts. so i got i an idea and called him from a different number and what do ya know, he answered. he said he was busy, im thinking "yea right" but he said it worked when he sold it to me. there is no way in hell because i took it to IAG before i knew how to use it and they said it wasnt working because it was never unmarried. so needless to say im pretty pissed at the moment. he is a member on here but i want to confront him face to face and try and resolve it. but if that fails, i WILL be posting up who he is.

sorry, im just pretty pissed atm. i never rip anyone off on prices and i never sell $hit that doesnt work.

This is actually quite common with second-hand AP's. We've had quite a few people come in to the shop after purchasing their AP's with this same issue...

I think this market is a good target for scammers because new owners tend to purchase AP as their first mod... So before they have the opportunity to learn up on the potential issues with AP, they get scammed into purchasing from someone who hasn't unmarried it.

Guys who are purchasing used AP's, make sure to check that it is unmarried before ANY money exchanges hands!!!

...Enabler...

Anyway, I would definitely bring this guy out of the shadows.

And, to be fair, you did try to sell it to someone else... but at least you refunded them when it didn't work out.

If the guy who sold it to him is on here, feel free to PM the OP ASAP to have Cobb unmarry the AP at your cost.

This is why, when I bought my AP used off someone, I did a local purchase, and hooked it up to my car before money exchanged hands. Pieces of steel that you KNOW will fit are one thing, but a piece of electronics that may or may not work, depending on BS, are going to be local purchase

I would get the original seller to pay to have it sent back to Cobb to get unmarried. You should never have given $$ unless you knew it was unmarried in the first place.

This is well said.

Itís a common problem. The OP would have been wise to have the seller assert the unit is un-married (would be a lot easier to get your money back). And for all you know, since this unit is unmarried it may not even belong to the original seller (i.e. stolen).
