Default RPMs drop when thottle is pressed

When I give my 98 rs gas the rpms drop and then the engine revs up. I drove another 98 with the same mods as mine and it did not do this. I was wondering if it could be a problem with the timing. I replace the spark plugs hopping to solve the problem but it did nothing. It seems like it is missing and my gas mileage is not what i want it to be or what I think it should be.

Any help would be great

thanks
shaun

Does it only really start to pick up when you floor it, or is there just a little hesitation when you first press the gas? If it only feels good when you floor it, you may have a bad O2 sensor.

yeah, it either sounds like a timing problem, or plug wires. if you have access to an engine diag computer, then i'd say put it on there so you know there's not something more seriously wrong with it.

I still have the stock wires, but I have changed the plugs (Denso's). I don't think anything is majorly wrong. It seems like it may be a timing issue. I know it has distributerless ignition, how do I check the timing? Set it?
