yup roller barrels. the piping looks to be titanium, which is hard to weld and even harder to bend.

Tommy
is the flat bottom just for aero? or more for protection

Carmi (btw, I still owe you a pack of reds)

Most WRC Subaru's are not V mount , they only went V mount from 2004 (S10WRC) till the S12(06) the reason they stopped is that through water splashes the whole front came apart . The first reason for doing the V mount was aerodynamics . they are 2 giant ducts that come from behind the rad to the sides of the front bumper that let out the hot air and the hot air comes out through the bonnet fro0m the intercooler. This was done to create less drag and make the front more efficient aero wise. But in 2007 on the S12B *looks the same as the S12 but they are HUGE differences. They went back to an interooler mounted on top of the radiator and this carries on to the S14 (08).

From the S6 (99) till the S9(03) only the radiator was slanted and the intercooler was mounted horizontally.

The problem with running the v mount is air in the system , we constantly have to bleed and pressurize our cooling system on the S10's and on because they catch so much air in them.

They share their oiling system with the engine.
Here is a better pics , this is me prepping the S12 engine to go in.
