Default New Sony MP3 Player and Length of Subie Din?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering the new sony cdx-mp70. A link of it is here:

http://www.xplodsony.com/products/de...mp70&submit=Go

However, the literature lists it as 182x53x182 mm, which is about 20mm longer than average. Would it fit in the Subie din without major modification? What is the the length of the WRX din? For those of you who installed a CD/MP3 player, was their plenty of length left over?

Thanks
Ben

I dunno about the sony unit in particular, but I would expect you'll have enough room. I just installed a Rio docking unit in my WRX and there is ample room behind it. It is slightly larger than DIN: 183mm wide x 50 mm high x 173mm deep. That's only about 9mm less than the 182 mm you list for the sony's depth.

Keep in mind this comes from my long experience with car audio (2 weeks of web surfing) and huge number of successful installations (1 Rio.) You may want to check with the experts.

It should fit, I just installed an aftermarket stereo and it seems to be pretty roomy to push all my wires back there.

Thanks for both your replies! I will be installing a Rio Empeg as well, and I want the sony to be the head unit for the Rio. MorePower, did you install a head unit along with the Empeg?

That head unit is awesome. It has everything I want (MP3 and XMSR). Do you know if it is ready to play XM or do you have to buy one of those XM reciever boxes connect it to the head unit?
