Default Fast and Furious 4 bad for the community?

Do you guys think the movie will enhance the subaru community or just bring in a bunch of ****heads to the community?

More people know about egos than subarud because of the 2nd and 3rd one but some people are saying that it's unwanted publicity..

What do you guys think?

subarus have gained populairty amoung the tuner scene since the wrx and even more, when the sti came to the US. i don't think the movie will make the new sti sell any better or worse. it's still an expensive car..

it might increase the overall interest in subaru and cause some younger people to scoop up an older wrx or sti.. which i dont think is a bad thing at all..

i think the general subaru/nasioc community keeps new owners in line pretty well.

You can always spot the differences between a ricer/street racer and a performance enthusiast... however, I think that this movie might give the public a slightly negative outlook on people driving Subarus. Maybe even profiling for law enforcement.

I guess it just depends. I wonder how much screen time the STI will even have in the movie?

I'm guessing that some in Subaru community, those who live their lives "1320 feet at a time," will find this movie 'good.'

I don't think it will matter one way or the other. The feeble minded crowd that this movie franchise could influence most likely cannot afford a vehicle in that price point.

i don't think the problem is that it brings negative attention to the Subaru community itself... more that it brings the wrong kind of attention to those who the whole car scene itself..

Just watch... as soon as people finish watching the movie, they will be revving their engines as they leave the parking lot, looking for a highway or street to go race.. I remember having to remind people that it was just a movie, and not to take it seriously..

Brings negative attention to those who modify their cars as a hobby, and don't go about doing stupid stuff in public.

Every time a movie comes out, you hear about some traffic fatality being blamed on the movie and on modified cars in general. Next thing you know, anyone with a modified car is being hunted down by the authorities due to public pressure, and new laws are being passed, ruining it for everyone.

I actually wish they would stop cranking the movies out

People need to realize this is JUST a Movie. This does not in anyway represent how Subaru drivers act in their vehicles.

I agree on the leaving the theater tool comments. I saw Tokyo Drift (at the dollar theater ) and when we left everyone was tearing out of the lot (in their beat up cars) like they were in the star car of the movie.

In general, I think subaru will get some more respect in a performance standpoint from those not in the know. When I first bought my WRX, everyone at work thought it was a ricer car with a fake hood scoop. A quick ride showed them otherwise.

Those with some money and always needing to have the latest and coolest will probably try to get an STI or a bugeye WRX. These are the people who a lot of them are into street racing and being tools.

Those that fall in the category above but without money will just rev at as us and harrass us.

The final category will just love subaru's even more but still be normal respectful people.

So, it's neither good or bad.

Maybe the ricers will flood the mazda forum instead . From my experience ricers aren't very bright . For example thinking Hella horns are turbos in the grill .

And NO im not busting on the 08-09 style..

Dude, we already get profiled, there are already PLENTY of ricer ******** driving Subies, and plenty of people already street race Subies.

Having said that, if it brings more interest to the WRX then it is good. That means more car sales, and more interest in aftermarket parts, while also means more innovation and better/more new parts

The WRX world does not revolve around the forums, despite what we all believe.

Default "There is no such thing as bad publicity"

The whole general purpose of advertising is to find a means to appeal to the general public. What better way for Auto makers to showcase their elite production lines other than "Box Office Hits" especially in The Fast & the Furious series. That being said, be prepared to welcome these ****heads as they start to come along and start joining these forums... Oh wait a minute, we're already doing that.

What was the purpose of this thread again?

As for those who aren't going to watch this movie when it comes out to theaters, they're gonna watch it when it comes out on Blu-ray. I guarantee it becuz I know that they are itching to see what all the hype is all about or else why on earth would they go out of there way to see the previous 3 before it?

FLAME ON!!!
