Question Dashboard Light Change?

Does anyone know anything about the lights in the instrument panel? I want to change out the typical green with some LED super white bulbs. I heard it made everything stand out more.

I'm just trying to figure out what types and how many bulbs a 2003 Subaru Baja takes for the panel. I'm not car savvy so I didn't want to rip apart my car to find out. lol I found a place who would install them but won't order them and couldn't give me any information. I also went to our local Subaru Dealership and they also couldn't give me much information.

Soooo, I'm a little stuck right now. Want to change them out but can't get any information on it.

You can chose which warning lights to make blue ie. the E "brake" light I made blue, but didnt like it cuz it was tooo dark, so I changed it back to red. The green blinker arrows I changed blue, and they look awesome. Then the bigger #194 (I think) bulbs were again an easy swap, I made sure to find some that had LEDs that faced outward. You need four of those. The HVAC was a whole other thing, totally a B*** to take out the bulbs cuz they are wired directly into the housing. but once I figured it out, it turned out nice.

I know exactly what you mean about the dark blue VW guages, I owned an 01 jetta, but if you can kinda see, the blue is a bit lighter, almost like a dark aqua, so i have no problem seein the guages. This aqua color actually is because the light passes thru a yellowish plastic. I realized this when I was messing with green and white/blue lights behind it, I actually didnt know how the blue would even look thru the yellow. but it turned out kinda aqua, and I really like it.

As far as price, LED's are SUPER CHEAP on ebay, so this mod probably cost me 30$ total, but I have left over LED's for replacement or other projects. Time is another thing, Its really quick once you learn where the screws are and can pop the dash apart easily. and the bulbs themselves take no time once you have all the right stuff. the HVAC probably took me 2 hours alone from start to finish, but I had never seen bulbs hard wired in like that. I could do the job in about an hour now that Ive seen how it all works.

hey yeah. i see you guys linked my other post. Illl say its a pretty straightforward swap. the hardest part is just getting the dash apart. but a simple hayes manual willl locate all the screws for you, and then its just simple prying and unscrewing. once you get past that point, its basically just plug and play. remember with our bajas, theres a slight yellowish color that is in there somewhere, i tested this with a clear light, and it shines thru yellow, so any color you put back there will be affected by the slight yellow, as you can see in my pics, my blue turned a lil less dark blue, and more into an aqua. GL and if you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask. oh and ill post my scoobytruck link,
where i normally post most of my lil how-to's....

That helps! I have to remember that yellow tint. I was going to get some super white for the speedometer and then go with the blue turn signals. So, if the super white ends up with a yellow tint then I'm not sure how that's going to look. Well, I do have a yellow Baja so I guess it would match the car. lol
