Question Rattle connected to gas pedal?

I have an automatic 1998 L, I just started noticing that everytime i have my foot off the gas pedal while stopped in drive, something starts rattling. Its not really loud but id like to take care of it. It doesnt do this in neutral, and if i press my foot on the gas very lightly (as in barely even touching the thing with my foot), it stops.

any clue to what this might be?

+1 Real good chance it is.

You can lightly hit the exhaust/shields with something to find out where the trouble maker is.

And if it is (and already tight), use some washers/spacers down there to hold the two shields apart. This worked on the Forester and has held up for years.

You should have shields for the catalytic converter, then a couple sets of double shields on the engine side for the exhaust.

The first set off the cat was the rattler on the Forester. You could hear it at low idle and around 2750 rpm.
