Default EJ20G water pump q v2

so i just read my mechanics report again and it said i had a leaky water pump, and i realized it could mean either A.) the Gasket or B.) the Pump

i looked at the pump, and didn't see any cracks or what not, so is it most likely a gasket?

Im ordering the parts to fix my car soon, so i wonder if i can get any input from the peanut gallery. Am i better off just replacing the pump anyways?

replace the pump. just bc you cant see any cracks doesnt mean that the weep hole is messed up.

not worth putting everything back together and then the pump being bad. so just replace it. i got my new referbished pump for $70 bucks from the local autoparts store, and havent had a problem since, comes with the gasket also.

The pump itself is pretty cheap... might as well replace it since it will be off. Most new pumps will supply gasket.

if it has the oil cooler, most of them do. then just get one for a WRX or an STI.

If it doesn't have the oil cooler, ask for a '92-'94 Legacy turbo pump. (NOT '91).

Just get one for a WRX or STI? does this mean the new age model say 02+ WRX or STI water pump will work?

is there anything maintenance wise (belts, gaskets, pumps, etc) on the USDM EJ205 that *won't* work on the EJ20G?

Yes, head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gaskets, timing belt is all different. Only things you can use are oilpump and waterpump, exhaust manifold and turbo gaskets, front and rear crank seal. All the other bits you can take from a contemporary USDM EJ25D engine (EJ20G with HLA use 1995-1996 EJ25D HLA engine parts like seals, belts etc). There are numerous threads on that topic by the way.
