Default Whats your favorite motorsport?

Hey everyone,

Just curious as to what your favorite motorsport is and why. Regardless of whether it's one you watch or participate in, or are just generally a fan of.

I'll go first

For me it has always been Rally, and more specifically, tarmac rally. My fascination with it dates back long before my interest in Subaru's, and for that matter even before I had a drivers license or owned a car. My passion for it really has had quite the bearing on my life since.

I remember being a kid and watching it on T.V. before it was even broadcast on American television. It would occasionally pop up at about late noon on what I believe was something like a Portuguese or Spanish sports show. It was only a few couple minute clips but I was HOOKED!!!

I don't think I was even really old enough to know what rally was or anything about it. I just loved watching the images of these car's flying down these tiny little roads at impossible speeds, with some guy in the passenger seat always shouting in a language I couldn't understand LOL!!

Later on in life, I found myself constantly watching rally, and repeatedly re-watching the pure tarmac events. I really became pretty stuck on it.

After purchasing my first car and getting a license, I discovered lots of great hidden away back roads, and spending all my time and money driving them.

Even now that I have grown older, I still have a ever deepening passion for it. Unfortunately though, there is almost no sanctioned pure tarmac rally's here in the states, especially none that are within reason of me running. I still hope though that at some point before I expire, I will be in a position in my life where I can get a chance to run a true pure tarmac rally event.

But for now, I can still wander up to my little hidden away back roads early in the AM and have at it

-Anthony

Autocross. Anyone can do it, on any given weekend.

Autocross, mainly because it's more about driver skill and handling than who has more power. There's also minimal risk involving other drivers, your car and you.

I'm still a huge fan of ALMS and F1 because they are developing the technologies that will end up in our street cars in due time.

I love to Autocross, because the number of transitions ensures that people rarely feel like they did it perfectly. But I wouldn't want to watch autocrossing. The driving in Rally is second to no other four wheel racing, but I would have to give my vote to the Moto guys. Hard to pick a favorite series, as I like MotoGP, AMA, and WSB, but I would have to give it to MotoGP. There is always good racing, because all of the drivers are amazing. And when the tires start to go towards the end of the race, those guys do not disappoint.

to watch, I still love the Australian V8 supercars...always exciting and entertaining racing. BTCC and DTM use to be quite good watchs too...haven't seen either in a long time however.

I love any wheel to wheel racing, but it would have to go something like ALMS/Grand Am, Touring Cars, F1 then time trials like NASA TT or Rally....then NASCAR (Hey its racing! I'm not really a fan but it better than watching some soap opera). Rally and time attack are cool, but to me nothing beats the sensation of watching two skilled drivers going at it on a road course. That's why touring cars are so awesome to me and probably the type of racing I would do if I had the chance. ALMS and Grand Am are higher only becasue endurance racing is awesome, haha.

My favorite thing to watch is touring car.

If I won $10M, my goal would be to drive in T2.

Rally baby!! Why? because it's dirty...and I do like it dirty.

I also like most other forms of racing (dirt and street) that are NOT doing ovals. I have even been guilty of watching NASCAR on the road course event. Road course FTW!!

Formula 1 is my favorite. ~800hp in a 1500 lb car with lots of down force must take such skill to drive at 10/10ths. Pretty much any kind of road racing I enjoy though.

Rally--Flinging gravel, snow, tarmac, ice, mud, dust and big old effing rocks in the air. Not so much to watch, but to do. Have been a rally moonie for almost 10 years now. Actually, I heartily dislike spectating rallies (which usu means we broke or crashed out)

Best spectator seat at any rally is behind a windshield.

What else? CORR trucks look like big dirty fun. Dakar. Baja. Winter TSD's. Historic forest rallies (short wheelbase 911s sideways in dirt = automotive viagra)

This trhead would be better as a poll!

My fav motorsport in autocross. Seeing people like Mark Daddio, Sam Strano, Ian Stewart, Erik Strelnieks, Gary Thomason, etc navigate a course is a true work of art.

I don't watch anything but rally (WRC) that I D/L from the web... so I guess that's my favorite. Not only that... Don't get SpeedTV, don't watch NASCAR... don't follow anything other than WRC.

I prefer to drive instead of watch I guess? And by drive... mostly auto-x/ProSolo.

Just no way for me to easily follow/watch anything.

I like to autocross.. but of any motorsport I like watching sno-cross (snowmobiles). The pros make it look so easy, but being a long time rider myself I know that its brutal on oneself.

I think some kid here in California bought a black gc8 from you guys a way back. Either from you guys or a friend of yours maybe. It was ej20 swapped but he took it apart and is in the process of trying to put it back together with the N/A motor to sell. Small world I gues LOL

Would like to make it down to Maine to watch event their sometime, I'll have to look you guys up if I'm down there!!!
