lol. My whole build, tuned out the door was 50 days.
This is going to be quite the custom build though, and Im interested in end results no matter how long it takes. However, I pray for all that has been invested that this combo works. It would be a complete shame if 100 or 200 of spool was picked up, and that be it.

I just sat & read this entire thread in one swoop... I need to disclaim, I don't know Dan, FAT, or anyone in this thread...
*Dan & FAT, well done... well engineered, well planned, & well played. Rushing = the reason stuff gets done over time & time again. Patience is a virtue & a wallet saver. * I build street-rods/muscle cars on the side for "discriminating" clients. They take time. As Phatron said... these things take butt loads of time.. Dan's car is not the only car in the shop. Parts delays, sub-contractor delays/mistakes, material delays... heck the fabricator just having a cruddy day while his wife is crying/bleeding.. they are human & custom work takes time. The Arm Chair Quarterbacks (ACQ's) who will be screaming bloody murder all weekend this weekend, when the closest they have ever smelled turf is on their Lawn Boy Mower in their Madras Plaid shorts, Izod Polo, & Ray bans... are only surpassed in my total angst & ![]() ![]() by the ignorance of Passenger Seat Rally Drivers (PSRCD's) & American Chopper Wanna Be Fabricators (ACWABF's)... the next time one of you cry babies wants to voice a "time/money argument" let's see your skill set. I don't cry when it takes the computer guy an extra 5 days to solve my IT problem, he knows better than to complain about my wrench time. I think there needs to be an additional piece of info under every profile to the left: Mechanical Aptitude Quotient. Those who cannot even change their own plugs or exhaust have no room to talk. The curse of modern "reality" TV.. American Chopper, Overhaulin', American Hot Rod.... everyone suddenly knows EVERYTHING about building a car & now expects it to all come together in 7 days with a perfect turn of the key. MEH! ![]() When the engine in my "Certified Pre-Owned" '04 Wagon went 8 months into ownership (86K miles) when it spun 3 main bearings & took out the entire engine. Only the head castings were reusuable. I demanded a NEW shortblock & everything else brand new. It took my local SOA Platinum/Gold/Premium whateva dealer 98 days to replace a stock, completely new engine (& the clutch I provided) under warranty! All the cry babies & negative-Nancy's just need to **** & watch something unique & exciting unfold... I'm done now... Rob |

^^ gotta love the maturity & depth of intelligence of our "scooby guru's".... your post contributed what there, Guru??? back atcha.
yep I typed every letter... because dorks like you & other's posting here just don't get it... its so easy to knock out your lil pet project @ home. Its soooo easy to call in a favor from a friend & get an engine back in 36 hours... If I built an engine & it failed , I too would get it back asap... hence the fact stuff on the regular schedule takes longer.. funny... I bet "s.t.f.u" (dodging the swear filter) won't get this "Scooby Guru" any points huh? But if I quote it I am likely to get points.... Rob |

it's not that what you said isn't right, it's that this proven power bragging
that is solely why I said what I said; this part of the forum is not for opinions, it's about facts/new technology for drag racers/turbos/setups btw, you won't teach more than a handful of guys ten points on this forum; most have all been brainwashed into thinking as they think already and will not change |

then count my post as bragging I am smarter then the brain washed & I am On topic... lol
Besides I didn't post an opinion. I post a statement of fact. More people on here have no clue what it takes to build a vehicle 1/2 the fabrication level of the OP. Fact... they just don't get it.. the aluminum welding alone on this project is more than most people who believe they have <marginally> built short block. I know first hand.. I dont weld aluminum (for now) & have to farm it out. that takes time & $$... the point is the same... builds take time & $$, often, cubic yards 'o cash. Rome wasn't built in a day & those that think custom-fab builds should take 36 hours to 50 days are misguided. Rob |

Thanks a lot for people on this board that know how long something like this takes and understand that this is not just some big turbo kit contract. We have also installed Dan's complete suspension setup with rce t2's (that are not dialed in yet) cusco lateral and trailing arm links, his aquamist setup, his gauges and boost controller setup, an aem ems setup, his fuel system setup etc. This is not what takes a year but it all adds up. Like I said before the car will be running again very soon.

I love these types of threads. People with stock turbos or close to no mods always preaching about how something should be done quicker.
I waited 5-6 months before my car was done 3 years ago. New turbo, new block, parts, ordering more parts, backordered parts, holidays, shop delays. All part of the game. However, I always like to see these types of builds maybe in the member gallery and then brought to proven power bragging once the product is almost finished and about to get on the dyno for final the final tuning stages. Threads like this are a big tease and I can see why some people don't understand the build time related to such a project. In any case, sounds like a blast and unique of course. Hope it puts out the final numbers you hope for. |
