What kind of decals?

Why are you putting anything on there.

Chalk DUST would be your best option, that's what they use to tape off hot rods for flame jobs and scallops

i put my stickers on the thin magentic sheet, only usually for autox events, but they seem to stay put at highway speeds actually (up to 65 or 70mph here)...but of course they do stick up a little if you look closely, not as neat and flush as stickers

Magnets make me shudder. They cause so many scratches.

I used to get so anal about using magnets, that I'd tape off the whole door with painters tape and then put the magnet on top.

Use a projector to put a virtual grid on the side of your car. It's how my friend does murals. Or painters tape I guess =)
